There are specific "take down procedures" that can be undertaken by an
individual or there are many online businesses that will do it for you, their fees vary. I've had to do this on several occasions regarding my architectural design work and my ceramics. I worked my way through the process and was quite surprised to find that the sites hosting company is required to pursue your claims on your behalf. I was successful in all instances, with schedules of one to three weeks. I suspect that Ebay would be held to the same standards as private hosting companies when it comes to protecting copyrighted material.

In this case it looks like Google will even help protecting against copyright infringement, when it happens.

Re: WTH Gordon?:
Wow that's pretty disturbing. I always thought of Gordon as one of the trustworthy ones. It's lame to take someone's photos but then to misrepresent your product also is really bad.

It is possible that he "contracted" the work, yet he has to be able to identify his product ...

Just a quick note, Gordon didn't steal the poppets, that is yet another teashop using my images without permission.Victoria wrote:

Sad thing is, I'm almost always willing to barter usage rights for product. So there is a way that both of those shops could have legally acquired rights to use my teaphotos in their advertising. (Although not the Poppet images. I don't license those for commercial use, unless it is to the creator of the poppets, or a project authorized by her.)

By the way, I've sent messages to both sellers, giving them the opportunity to cease their infringement, before I report it to Ebay. If they comply, story is over, otherwise, I will have to escalate. I'm pretty familiar with take-down procedure, I have to do it periodically for my business website copy and images.

Aw, this makes me sad. Especially the watermarking them as his images...

Hi geekgirl, I didn't know what a Poppet was so I went to your Flickr page To find out. (it could have been a pressure cooker/TeaPot thingeGeekgirl wrote:Sad thing is, I'm almost always willing to barter usage rights for product.Victoria wrote:

Anyway, I right clicked on a poppet and moved my pointer down to save image, And it did! Girl, you need to change your permissions to no copying or something. Flickr has such options and it doesn't limit your use of your pic.

Re: WTH Gordon?:
Thanks nonc_ron, I re-set the permissions to MY friends and family only, instead of contacts. Don't know if that will fix it. I'm going to log out and give it a try.

Now if someone steals a picture they will know they're stealing and that eliminates the excuse
"I thought they were free"

Re: WTH Gordon?:
Yeah it probably doesn't help that most of these photo-hosting sites label themselves as photo "sharing" sites.

Re: WTH Gordon?:
This is pretty bad. Judging by a lot of Gordons pictures I would have though he'd taken pride in taking them as some of them are very nicely set up and shot.
Its a real shame as this sort of thing really puts me off vendors.
