Re: New to yixing tea pots - help request

Hi Runlogan,

I am happy that you found my suggestions helpful. I think that probably within a year or so you will feel that that pot is a bit big for you alone - but that is fine, I read that several people on teachat are happy about those da hong pao pots (though I don't have one myself), so even if you find it is too big for you alone, you will be able to use it when you are drinking with friends.

Just to add another suggestion to improve your enjoyment of TGY, I find that I quite like drinking green oolongs in celadon cups like this one:

You can find them on several ebay stores, also here

I forgot something IMPORTANT: the celandon cups have crackles in the glaze that will get stained with use, becoming darker. Some people like that but other people do not, so make sure to look at a picture of a stained cup before buying them - otherwise you might be disappointed when the crackles get stained.

I do like the Moon White celadon teacup. And it would deter me from the need of having a large teapot by having a small teacup . I do think I would like the look of tea stained crackles. One of the sites refered to it as a cicada wing pattern. It looks great.

Thanks again.

Do not order from funalliance

by markmctamany » Nov 19th, '10, 07:02

I placed an order 2 weeks ago, paid for the order (a $200 yixing teapot) and have not heard from them since. I've just resigned myself to accepting the fact that I will never see that teapot and that I've just been basically robbed of $200.

Countless emails have been sent, all of which have gone unanswered. People, please do not order from this place. They will take your money, then not answer any of your replies or order status. Kam, I believe in Karma, you will get yours.

I will signup to every major tea forum I can to make sure no one else gets ripped off. Note to self, do not order from a place with no stated physical 'bricks & mortar' address and shady contact details and NO CONTACT NUMBER. Being the e-commerce manager of a well known cycling website in Australia, I should've known better. I guess I was naive and thought 'tea' people would be 'honest' people.

You should make sure and call your credit card company or your bank and tell them to stop payment of the 200 bucks since you never received your product. This usually works. If you are feeling like you really need to let people know then you should contact the BBB and file a complaint. I think they have resources for e-commerce now.

That being said. Others here have been able to deal with them just fine so maybe there are other reasons for not being able to get in touch with them?

actually there have been several observations on these boards that the website seems defunct. its likely that funalliance is no longer in business.

I'm not too familiar with the rules of karma, but that's interesting. What other rules like that are there? If Mark did something in a past life, would the $200 be adjusted for inflation? I mean, $200 in the 1930's would be like over $1000 now. And what about if he wronged someone out of Pesos, or RMB? What exchange rate would be used?

Maybe I'm being to specific. I'm a bit confused.
