Great TD, began with Yutaka Midori "Classic" with the Mrs. Next up, Oku Midori, and lastly Sencha 7132 organic asamushi ... an O-C trifecta.

I love food. I love tea. Yet rarely do these pair for me. Usually in a sushi bar with genmaicha. I persoanlly do not like food and tea to have to compete for my favor, attention.

Fried requires something a very strong tea--I would tend to drink puerh or darkly roasted TGY or Wuyi.

With fried foods... I'd say a nice malty Assam or perhaps a Shupu. Maybe even some type of abrasive young Sheng; something like 7542 would work well.

I would guess a dark roast oolong or black. Maybe a puerh but not sure, I don't remember drinking tea with fried food before.

I imagine houjicha would pair very well with oily fried food too. I think roasted teas are best with food personally because the boldness of flavor does not require a lot of attention and they sort of chase away/clean up oiliness in the mouth and throat. I wish I knew why (chemically) that is the case, but this quality is very obvious to me with roasted tea.
