I am here at 1/11/11 11:11 PST on TeaChat. Having a nice oolong from
Floating Leaves Tea.
No new faves, green oolong still reigns supreme.
Re: Tuesday TeaDay 1/11/11 New faves for a new year?
That depends what you mean by `fave'.
On January 1 I tasted a new tea that was perhaps the greatest tea I have ever tasted, great because of the quality of the leaf and especially great because of the craft in making it. Will I drink it again? It's practically too expensive to drink, so maybe or maybe not. Can a tea be a `fave' if it's too expensive to drink?
Matcha Yame Kasumi with breakfast this morning (first matcha of the year) and will be sharing some shui jin gui with my Mom a little later.
BTW, the tea I tasted on Jan 1 was Red Circle's 2010 Shi Feng LJ. I'll post notes when I get the time.

Being completely new to tea (my first order from Adagio should be here tomorrow), I anticipate having a whole crop of new favorites. I'm especially anxious to try the Apple flavored black tea I ordered.

It's really not that bad, I had a cup of it earlier, too. At the moment I doctored a cup of their vanilla caramel truffle with sugar and milk. It's made it drinkable enough that I will probably finish the box, rather than pass it to my neighbor as I had been considering.TwoPynts wrote:Too soon to say, but I'm still enjoying what I was enjoying in 2010.
"Slumming" it a bit today with a Lipton pyramid tea - Bavarian Wild Berry.
It was a gift and it actually rather tasty.
If the difference between loose leaf tea and bagged is really as pronounced as everyone says, though - by this time tomorrow I should be in tea nirvana.
Re: Tuesday TeaDay 1/11/11 New faves for a new year?
Well, this time last year I was so experimental I hardly even had any favorites, but I'm starting to settle down a little. I've come to find that I favor yunnan blacks, greener oolongs, and the occasional sencha. Hopefully this year I'll narrow it down even further to find my perfect teas <:
Today is a fukamushi sort of day.

Last year I probably said long jing was my favorite but now my favorite is shui jin gui. It only wins by a hair. Between Shui jin gui, long jing, Jiu Hua fo cha and all yancha it is a close one.
perhaps some sleepy time tea tonight

Great reading the posts today. Thanks everyone! Been busy here.
But a great TD! Beginning with Myou Jyou from GreenTea-Japan with the Mrs., pretty enjoyable asamushi. Next up was Oku Midori from TeaGallery. And lastly Organic YamaNo Ocho from Umami-Chaya.
The southern snow has finally hit PA ...

This time last year, I had not yet tried gyokuro, which is definitely my favorite tea. I also had not drank matcha since elementary school, so I'd forgotten how much I loved it. So yes, I have a couple of new favorite teas.
I've been steeping and drinking lavender sencha all day. Gosh, I just love it. And the only place I've seen it is one Asian grocery near my school... I'll need to stock up!

Last year this time i had only really had earl grey de la creme tea so it was my favorite by default. over the last year i have tried so many different teas and my favorites have changed several times. my current favorites would probably be green oolong and puerh.
