Began the TD with Kiwame from Zencha, and currently Nada's 90's Bulang Sheng with the Mrs. Taking a break after 4 steeps.
Re: Wednesday TeaDay 2/16/11 Teaware details.
I am split down the middle between Chinese and Japanese. I drink both every day and I use different pots depending of the teas. I suppose, if you count cups rather than just pots, that I prefer Japanese teaware because almost all of my cups are Japanese.
Hou de's shui xian for breakfast, and O-Cha's Kirameki with lunch. Probably tencha a little later.

Some cheap pot I can find in the charity store...
Im not that fussy with teaware. I have a number of small, extremely handy porcelain teapots with nice motifs that were made in Thailand, I think...
Im drinking a nice, earthy Yunnan black.

I guess I chose to answer the question concerning style.
Right now, I'm having my first session with the 2010 winter lishan from FLT.

I tend to like Japanese the most, but I don't have a lot of Japanese pieces unfortunately.
I have been sipping on some Pomegranate Bai Mu Dan today. It tastes like hot chocolate.

While I love all kinds of teaware, my favorites have always been leaning towards Japanese-style.
And then I came to Korea, and was pleasantly surprised by the pieces I have found. So, I voted Korean. Compared to the number for Japanese pieces, there aren't as many good vendors for Korean teaware, and it can be difficult to find some of the better pieces (unless you know of an artisan, like Seong-il Hong, or are willing to look around).
Tea culture is not as prevalent here, but when you find a shop or an artisan or just people in general who are interested in tea ceremony, you can find some really beautiful wares.
After all that though, ironically, I'm on my morning cup of sencha, brewed in my tokoname kyusu. I bring out the Korean wares when I wind down after work.

currently still no contest! Japanese pottery rules the roost here. Hagi more than any other..but Bizen right behind that along with other styles as well. One of my fav's is a Kazuwa by Toichi..its actually quite exquisite and not a hagi!

Re: Wednesday TeaDay 2/16/11 Teaware details.
I said Chinese, but only because my very modest little tea corner has more Chinese teaware than anything else--five Yixing pots and a couple gaiwans vs. three kyusus, with cups equally divided across China, Japan, and Korea. I probably make more use of the Japanese things, actually, now that I usually (not always) brew in a kyusu at the office. At home it comes out about even.
Thinking of ending the day with some Long Mei green tea from Yunnan Sourcing. If there's a bigger tea bargain out there I'd like to know what it is...

That looks like an excellent tea.DoctorD wrote: Long Mei green tea from Yunnan Sourcing. If there's a bigger tea bargain out there I'd like to know what it is...
Ending my teaDay with some Tai Ping Hou Kui from Jingteashop, a really amazing tea, and a good value, but not particularly 'bargain priced'!
Re: Wednesday TeaDay 2/16/11 Teaware details.
Earlier today I resumed drinking the Malaysian stored brick from the current OTTI which I had started yesterday....pretty much finished with it now I´m only getting slightly sweet coloured water out of it. Now I´m starting to brew some soft roast Kagoshima Yutaka Midori from Umami Chaya that I´ll likely be drinking right up to bedtime

Japanese teawares for me, especially kyusu (shigaraki being my favorite right now) and Japanese-influenced chawan by American potters.
Organic matcha after breakfast followed by tenryucha sencha.

Funny no one has mentioned Korea. There was some beautiful teaware at Seoul Incheon International Airport Cultural Museum of Korea. They also had some exquisite live music.
p.s. Any Korean teaheads here on TC?

I think I have purchased more Korean teaware than Chinese ... but far less than Japanese.
Still brewing the #1 from Pu-OTTI ...

I voted Chinese in honor of my gaiwans - so simple, so elegant, so versatile, so functional.
Today, some shi feng long jing and bai hao yin zhen from Jing. Tomorrow I get an early start on a puerh from the OTTI - I'll be working at home and I can return to it periodically and see how far I can take it.
