I just paid tribute to O-Cha for his shincha offering too. It is interesting that the only YM offered is ``Kaoru Supreme LE''. I picked up one each of YM, Kirameki and Aoi.

I think since the move, there will be additions and subtractions.brlarson wrote:I just paid tribute to O-Cha for his shincha offering too. It is interesting that the only YM offered is ``Kaoru Supreme LE''. I picked up one each of YM, Kirameki and Aoi.
Speaking of the move, heh, just got a box from O-Cha with a return address of O-Cha/Tsuen with the new address of Uji. Along with Tsuen propaganda. For some reason, I felt compelled to take pics of everything.
Cha cha cha changes ...
Re: 2011 Official Shincha Ordering Topic
I was under the impression that shincha was sold in smaller quantities at premium prices. From the pre-order page, I see that they are 100g bags and not really much more expensive than sencha. Is that correct?olivierco wrote:I have just preordered two bags of Kirameki.Chip wrote:O-Cha has just opened up their preorder page. http://www.o-cha.com/shincha-green-tea/

I've just pre-ordered those 3 today too, I'm really looking forward to trying them since it is my first shincha season after I started drinking tea seriously.brlarson wrote:I just paid tribute to O-Cha for his shincha offering too. Re: 2011 Official Shincha Ordering Topic
Some vendors will indeed offer so called LE shincha-s at much higher prices than their regular offerings (based on per gram pricing). Since I have been buying from O-Cha, I never noticed any pumped up hype pricing, just is what it is.tortoise wrote:I was under the impression that shincha was sold in smaller quantities at premium prices. I just ordered each of Sugimoto's shincha. Sugimoto's temomi is my once-a-year treat. I can't wait!

Re: 2011 Official Shincha Ordering Topic
I placed my first shincha order last week with O-Cha for the Kirameki (along with some sakura sencha, tis the season). Thanks to everyone on the forums who've convinced me I need to enjoy the annual shincha treat. I look forward to receiving it!

Kevin posted on his forum today ...
Kevangogh wrote:It looks like Shizuoka shincha will be harvested around April 25th, and Uji will start around May 1st. This year is about 5 days behind last year. Regarding Uji ( and probably other areas as well), there are several rounds of harvesting that occur within days of each other. The very first round is usually the most expensive because everyone is so eager for shincha, the farmers charge more for it. For that reason, some of our first flush shincha will most likely NOT be from this batch. It's kind of silly to pay a lot extra for something you can obtain a few days later which is of the same quality.
That's the latest, direct from the source!

Alright, I'm officially in the spirit having placed my pre-order with O-Cha. Got the Tsuen Asamushi, one of each, and, of course, the YM Supreme.
I'm going to pick up whatever shincha Ippodo offers as well and explore their offerings more this year in general.

Yuuki-Cha is now accepting pre-orders:
The FAQ does warn that they may add more shincha to the preorder page based on their ongoing tastings.

Re: 2011 Official Shincha Ordering Topic
Zencha.net is open for pre-order of shincha now. I just ordered a pack of Sencha the Untimate, which is expected to be ready on June 1, 2011.
Re: 2011 Official Shincha Ordering Topic
I'm thinking about not pre-ordering anything and simply waiting till the new teas arrive and then making a decision.
Glad I got that off my chest.
