No comment on McDonald's, but more and more studies are coming out showing that if you can handle the caffeine in coffee it is actually very healthy itself. Whether or not it is healthier than tea has yet to be seen, but from what I have seen the coffee studies seem much more definitive, as they are actually studying people that have coffee drinking habits and the chances they contract certain diseases, something which I have yet to see done with Tea.
But does it taste like senChaaaaaaaa!!!???!!!

I did enjoy some of their Japanese sencha last year, but no idea if the African is any good.

Scared of radiation. :) The wife is telling me not to get any for now. She is saying for a few years but I figure one season. I know I am probably being paranoid but I would hate to be wrong.

I bought up what I could find of 2010 sencha but now I am out as of yesterday. :(

uh oh better listen to the wifey!

I bet if you emailed some vendors they could get you some 2010 teas they have left over. So even the regions on the opposite side of japan are out of question? I mean kagoshima seems pretty darn safe to me.

Sorry I can't think of anything that tastes like sencha except sencha :(

Speaking of organic chinese greens, anyone know a good source. How about a good certified source? Those seem hard to come by...

Wifey has the power to make my life happy or miserable. She has a lot of power. I may break down once I have gone without some for a few months. Then, I will have to confront her again.(She does have a good head on her shoulders though.Where I might be foolish, she is smart)

I would suggest trying some Korean green tea. It has something in common with Japanese teas, although having some resemblance to Chinese teas as well. I agree with aboveposted comment on Luan Guan Pian, it reminded me of bancha when I last tasted it. Also, I've had some green tea from Shandong, which was something like Korean teas, a hybrid of characteristical Chinese and Japanese tastes.

Go to Google maps. See huge distance from Fukushima to tea growing regions Kagoshima or Yame. Show wife. Buy tea from there. Enjoy.

She does Know that radiation is just about everywhere right? I mean I would look at some of those test results pages, and show her those results, and see if you can at least get her to agree to let you get teas from certain area's that have had basically clean bills of health through testing.

Dragonwell and silver needle are not even close.
I've found a sencha style green tea from China.
Here: http://www.biblioteq.it/joomla/i-nostri ... okuro-type

First impression: very much like a real sencha! Maybe a little less vegetal but the umami is all there. Very good and cheap.

Not that I can think of.

Why not buy some 2010 gyokuro and sencha now? If you're worried about radiation and love sencha & gyo now is time to buy. Soon the pre Fukushima tea will be gone, probably going cheap at the moment. Space it out with some 2011 Chinese greens over the next year or so.

or this, a stab in the dark, I've not tried it
