So, there seems a lot of variation between the diamond shape stickers. Some have a dividing line, some do not. Some seem shiny, some seem to have a matte finish. Some seem to have different shades of color (or perhaps that's a trick of the camera?). Are there specific dates or Factories associated with each variation? Are some of the above photos just fake stickers?

any veterans or anyone interested in sharing more info on the stickers, the history, how they evolve before I chime in?

i'm sure there are others that know a lot but have not shared their loot of information whilst i'm always playing the devil's advocate and translating my current interpretations into english

I'm going to guess this one is a fake. 1) The style (font) of the characters is different than all others. 2) The white square shape is dead center of the sticker, where all others are slightly off to the right of center. 3) The square and circle are connected, where all others have a very slight gap between the shapes (i.e. the circle is supposed to be broken before touching the square). 4) The color is different than all others. 5) The hyphen between "Yixing - China" is much longer than all others. 6) The registered trademark "R" is too sharp and clear compared to the others. 7) The rounded corners of the sticker are just a bit sharper than the others. 8 ) The bottom orange section begins slightly higher than the others (a little closer to the side corners). 9) The spacing between "Yixing - China" and the next line of Chinese characters is off. It's too close together.

Just a guess though.

It's not the shape of the sticker, from what I know that one's Xiang Xing Cha Hang commissioned SP's imitation, I am guessing the sticker was imitated, too.

Of course there are...but you and chrl42 are always willing to share knowledge here, so good karma to the both of you.

Stickers, certificates of authenticity, easiest way of tricking rookies. Faking clays is a lot harder but it is done and very masterfully...but a piece of plastic, come on! =

chrl42, I know it's not the best angle, but can you tell if this one seems authentic judging by the rest of the pot and the chop?

I don't think it's authentic..the clay, the shape, the chop, the sticker...all seems somewhat distant from my opinion...but I could be wrong and it could be real as well.

it might be ok if you consider it to be a biandeng than a shuiping

possibly end 70s biandeng (neizhiwaihong?), the inside is fine particle qing shui ni (brown), outside a thin layer of hong ni that lost its redness from the interaction with the qsn.

would love a side profile!

Should be here by Saturday, but until then, this is the best I can do on a side view. If it turns out to be an imitation, that's ok. I got lucky and paid way less than even imitation prices from a flea market vendor who didn't know what they had.
