I would say around 100ml-150ml would be a good size for a gaiwan, more than 150ml feels a little unwieldy.

I'm starting to understand how very easy it would be to become a collector of teaware. 8)

Thanks Chip and Proinsias. You are all so helpful (though, I might reconsider just how 'helpful' when I end up with a houseful of pots... :wink: ).
I got myself two different sized kyusu, one for the daily greens and one for the higher grades. I got cups to go with them, too. Then I got a gaiwan (135ml) and cups for oolong.

Thanks again, everyone. At least I'm set up well enough (at least to start) for a beginner's journey into the world of tea. :mrgreen:
