LMAO, thanks Drax. That was my intention. Too funny. Actually, I only consider Westerners capable of being experts on Chinese tea and clay...(sarcasm anyone? )

No but seriously, thanks chrl. Super good info, and it helps. Step by step, as they say. I wonder if I will ever see another DHP[Zhu?]Ni pot again....sigh.

As chrl42 said, this subject got more complicated with time. I think initially the clay was pure, as already stated by that knowledgeable Westerner living in China, but later on potters started to experiment trying to match the lost purity and it eventually became some kind of monster, paraphrasing here Metallica's documentary film.

Why do you worry so much about the DHP clay? Deep down it is a product of mixed clay as chrl42 mentioned; I'd rather focus on old zhu ni (good luck finding an authentic pot made of this clay and if you are lucky prepare yourself to spend a "serious" amount of cash) or just pots made of purer clays, ie. duan ni, zi ni, etc.

Not worried, just curious. It isn't often I find something so rare! I will admit that I feel a touch of heartbreak every time I think of the huge crack running along the side of the DHAZNi pot. :(

But, I have my eye on a bad@$$ zhuni pot I mentioned in another thread. It is from 20 year old clay, but it was made last year (by a Master). 200ish ml, so it clocks in as a solid middle-to-heavy-weight! But it is 600,000 won, which is something like US$525.

As stated, the original Qing dynasty DHP doesn't have the correct origin to know as of now. More likely, the experts are being humble actually, because it was from Qing dynasty, when a photographing technique wasn't even developed.

Myself also was curious about that clay too, because Qing dynasty script it's the greatest Zhuni..I've been tryin to know for years as well.

Zhu Ze Wei is no.1 clay-expert in Yixing and he has been collecting Yixing ores for decades, his DHP Zhuni is just his guessing, after interpreting Qing dynasty scripts and antique Zhuni pots. He noticed DHP wasn't from Zhaozhuang (the main Zhuni mine) but from Big Water Pond where Tian Qing Ni (the greatest Yixing clay stated) came from, too.

His DHP Zhuni-made Yixing is sold over 5000 usd I think.

Another famous Zhuni potter for DHP is High-Level master Fang Xiao-long. His DHP is mixed clay of 2. Zhaozhuang (or Huanglong) + Shihuang Zhuni. His pots are near 3000 usd I think.

The other potter is called Tang Ze Xin..his DHP is sorted Zhaozhuang Zhuni. Which, he sorts and filters out the purest and iron-richest part of Zhaozhuang/Xiao Mei Yao Zhuni ores..his Zhuni is very red and delicate but doesn't contain iron-oxide.

Above three potters are most famous for DHP as I know of, their pots are just not cheap, that's all.
