How do you keep tea stains off your white teaware?

Hagi turns over time very nice, when tea perforates the clay, and the whole piece changes with the crackles getting more visible.

Crackles do stain up nicely, and if the overall surface is nice and clean they'll stand out well. But at work, where time and access to water are limited, it's hard to keep unattractive stains from building up on some pieces, especially those with irregular surfaces. Hence, my delight in discovering how easily and gently soda helps to tidy my teaware, while really being quite gentle, and avoiding any possibility of lingering detergent taste.

My only experience with crackling glaze is a small ru kiln teacup. It's one of my favorite pieces of teaware that I own. The staining in the cracks is beautiful, but I find that once in a while there is an overall browning in patches across the whole interior. That's not so pleasant so I try to scrub it off when I notice it.

I use lemon juice. Similar to vinegar but for me it seems to work a little better, and it gives me less of a weird feeling

Last weekend I set myself up with a bowl of baking soda paste, and worked though my office teaware collection. It is so nice to be using my porcelain carp gaiwan today, when it's sparkling white again.

Thanks for the advise, the baking soda paste got my glass gaiwan so clear that it looks like its never been used. I've tried other solutions, but its never looked so pristine. I'm going to try this on all my teaware.
