I'm glad you found a local source. It's great to be able to see/touch it before buying, and to be able to use it right away.
You can spend a lot on a gaiwan, but to be honest, my favourite daily gaiwan is an inexpensive one that I got second-hand
Unlike a very pricey one that developed a nasty crack about 2 mos. after I purchased it, this one categorically refuses to break. Obviously we're wedded for life.

I echo the sentiments.
I bought an expensive matcha wisk some time ago, and the tines started to break after only a few weeks. Quite a disappointment, especially as my cheapo one lasted a few years with no damage.
