Great looking pair. What do you usually burn?

i've a terribly picky olfactory preference so i burn mostly a very niche select of agarwood and kyara, mostly by gentle heating (both traditional kodo cup + charcoal, and modern electric heating using a home made heater).

currently going very slow on the kyara as the supply is zilch.. 20-30 grams left.... for the next few decades of slow enjoyment..

just received a "hongkong" stored 90s sheng tea cake, strong camphorous notes. paired with a sliver of wild vietnamese aloeswood that has a clear sweet and camphorous olfactory profile

hmm... i'm new to tea chat, but could i inquire if you could be from hongkong/guangzhou? the terms you use to name agarwoods, when translated to chinese, resembles the terms that they use in that region

family came from shantou, chaozhou based in south east asia now

Chiming in as a beginner here.. if you've never had an interest in collecting incense you should experience kyara, sandalwood, etc at least once as components of aged puer.

A friend gave a lecture on Kodo for my local tea group and I collected some photos here. He uses old coffee beans as a clever way to cleanse your "palate" from fatigue from strong aromas.

He has collected some very cool kogo as well.

Very nice! Agarwood and kyara is also one of the hobby I enjoy thoroughly. I am very lucky to have an expert friend, kyarazen, who thought me so much on these woods. There are too many fakes out there and it getting really hard to tell. And also unfortunately the wild ones are getting very rare and super expensive now. Japan has stopped almost all the kyara sales.
Good that you have some in your collection Tim, I see that they will be a super rare precious items in very near future. It is nice to know that you appreciate this nice hobby.

And they are really good with tea too.
