Entry level pots for entry level people (like me), but can the entry level people who would buy these pots even usefully evaluate and rank them? I think we need someone with experience to judge them

I’m not actually looking for a new pot at the moment because I feel like the 130 ml pot and the two ~45 ml xiaopin I got at the Chang Nai-miao Memorial Hall in Maokong on a whim a few years ago are okay and it’d take a lot of concentration and lots of double blind tests for me to tell if I can perceive any difference to porcelain steeping (i.e. I’m really bad at this tea thing), but…intermediate sizes, different shapes, clays/colors?…

actually everything is all "relative", but perhaps in a hobby when you find enjoyment/appreciation in it, soon you will develop your own criterias for clay and pots.

it can vary from people to people, no particularly right or wrong.. except when it comes to price, i.e. whether one is paying too much for something

Cool, I just purchased this one. See how it goes!

That vendor has written a rough guide for anyone buying Yixing online:

How to choose a zisha teapot

"Please stay away from antique teapots."

Hahahaha. +1

Let us know your assessment of the pot. I am curious and excited but still prefer to stay away from new Yixing teapot due to my limited knowledge on the new pots.

I wonder what is the definition of antique teapots to stay away from? 50,100,200 years old?

Sure thing. :)

Those pots look good anyway, the main problem is they are young and like anything young needs to be tamed/raised, settled and mature. It's a long and somewhat tedious process.

Collectors pieces anything the grandmaster chop on it. The kind of pots you'll see in a museum, lol. If someone is selling this sort of stuff in the open market RUN LIKE THE DEVIL!

Looks reasonable :) I saw that the store carries some pots of quite well known makers of entry-level pots that are popular on taobao, like Li Xiaolu :)

teadezhang's pots usually have a Thai seal on the bottom.

Can't seem to get this pot off my mind. A little more expensive than the rest on this site, so wa wondering if anyone could speak on this clay. Not a firing style I have seen before. Any ideas about this guy? What teas may pair with this clay?

Alright. Pulled the trigger on the above pot. PayPal offering. 6 months no interest credit, and couldn't resist! Any suggestions on tea pairings? I am thinking roasted oolongs.

Looks like a manganese doped zini. Manganese is added to darken the clay as with many hei zini pots.
