i would have gotten one in a heartbeat had i not just bought another kyusu a few days ago.
it was difficult, but i went to a few TAD support group meetings, resisted the temptation, and now all of the ones that i like are sold. phew. got the teaware monkey off my back.
eagerly awaiting the iga wares!

Yeah its bad! I'd stopped buying teaware for a decent amount of time...Then had to buy one thing and I've broken down in to a mess of spending again....pedant wrote:i would have gotten one in a heartbeat had i not just bought another kyusu a few days ago.

Yeah after reading the article about the Iga clay, I am very intrigued. It sounds like it would be a good fit for yancha or other roasted oolongs, so I would possibly like to give it a shot. I think they're supposed to be released in May or June.pedant wrote:i would have gotten one in a heartbeat had i not just bought another kyusu a few days ago.

They'll probably be more expensive than his other teapots, judging from what he said in his blog about the limited availability of the clay.
Edit: Actually I just read his update on the Iga clay teapots and it sounds like they'll be released earlier than that. He was talking about this past May/June in the first one (didn't look at the date of the entry). If he releases them within the next month or so I'm not sure what I'll do...

Re: New Shigaraki Kyusu up on Hojo's site
They should be out this month actually. I may get one. I'm a little fussy on the finish of filters and the artist while makes superb pots can be a little rough for me in that area. So I'll have to see.

Currently waiting for my shiggy (and Hong Seong-il hohin) to go through customs at USPS Chicago ISC.
Hope it doesn't take too long...

Re: New Shigaraki Kyusu up on Hojo's site
Normally for me that's about right, this time it's taking a bit longer. They got there on the 5th so it's been a bit longer than 2 days. Must be because of the holidays.pedant wrote:usually takes a business day or 2 max to clear, ime.Frisbeehead wrote:Currently waiting for my shiggy (and Hong Seong-il hohin) to go through customs at USPS Chicago ISC.![]()

Same here, I'm in Ohio (close enough) so when they leave customs they should arrive quickly.
And I plan on taking plenty of pictures.
Edit: Okay the hohin is officially outbound from customs

Edit2: ah ha! I spoke too soon. It's shiggy brother is following close behind outbound from customs. USPS has prevailed, this day.

Picking them up today from the post office (I missed the mail lady when she came this morning, as I had my ancient Greece final). Will make sure to take pictures.
I want to try the shigaraki first with yancha. Hojo says, "We do not recommend this clay for Anxi Tie Guan Yin, Phoenix Oolong and Wu Yi Oolong. It gives astringency in taste." But I'm going to test it and see what I think. Others on here have said they like yancha with the shigaraki clay.

it does significantly heighten the aromatics and gives much more live to the olfactory aspects of yancha.. taste wise... it depends on how you like the finish to taste like..Frisbeehead wrote:Picking them up today from the post office (I missed the mail lady when she came this morning, as I had my ancient Greece final). i do use it for yancha once in a while, as i seek variety and variation in taste and flavour. that is all enjoyment and excitement for me.. not so much of seeking one single taste/flavour like forever...

Got mine! These are a really good batch. Lid fit is ground this time like the old batches so its super smooth. Craftsmanship is excellent!
