We received your email asking the Loose Tea Vendors that we use at Wegmans. We use Rishi and Ito-EN and Republic of Tea.
Thank you for taking the time to share you request. We value you as a customer and hope to continue serving you in the future.
Sincerely,
Marie

Best by 2010...yikes...granted, it is black. But this is why best by dates do not impress me. They can be so arbitrary and are hardly an indicator of the teas harvest date or freshness.
blah blah blah SENCHA blah blah blah!!!

Hm that's pretty interesting. I didn't see them prepackage like that last time that I was at wegmans. Although the last time i was there the teabar had just opened up.

I picked up a bag like that of the Lavender Sencha. I wanted to see how it tasted for if I ever needed a quick, cheap loose tea fix. The Wegmans that I usually go to in Fairmont, NY doesn't have a bulk tea section and are just starting to have those bags of loose tea. I haven't opened it yet as I am not that desperate, but even the back date on a green tea says February 2010. It is rather scary.

they seem to have started offering their teas in silk sachets now too. i received a sample of one (blueberry rooibos from rishi) with a coupon for 1 free box of any kind.
pretty cool that they are trying to push good tea
i'll probably choose the sencha they offer
