Still Alishan is consistantly good and gets my vote!

I voted none, as I'm not very familiar with oolongs yet, however, I do enjoy the darker oolongs better than the greener ones I've tried.

I'm on vacation at my daughter's so am enjoying her blend of iced black tea (don't know what brand) and pomegranate green tea.

Victoria, where does one buy AliShan? :?:

omegapd, hope you're recovering and can hit the teacup again soon!

auggy, sorry about your friend, I hope the doctors have promising news for her very soon.

Poll... I feel like I'm taking a pop quiz, so I will say: C. C is my answer. What? there's no C? I've been robbed!

I have no idea truly. A month ago I would have told you that I don't like Taiwanese/High Mt oolongs. I guess I was drinking the wrong stuff, because I like them now, but don't know enough to say which mountain I like best.

Since I've been drinking lots of "Ice" oolong, and love it, I will say my favorite mountain is the tall one.

Thanks... surgery is scheduled for the 12th so she has time for her milk to dry up... I guess we'll know more then.

Oh my! Best wishes to her and her family.

How I started my morning:

Shortly after I whisked up my tea and sat down, my husband poked his head into my den with a hangdog look: "Aren't you making some tea? I would like some tea please."

I made him some Ice oolong, he is happy. So now I'm on to that. If experience holds, I'll be able to drink this one at least until early afternoon. :)

   OK, I promise back to normal polls tomorrow! Admittedly, the last few days were tougher polls than most. But I hope a few of you have learned a little along the way.

But just clicky on a few of the links provided in the topic intro if you are even curious about Taiwan oolong. After all, look at the Geeky Girl who did not like them only a month ago. Listening to those around us on TeaChat who have the knowledge and experience in this area can really reduce the learning curve.

A good Taiwan oolong to start with IMHO, is the greener Adagio Oolong #18. Or the Pouchong. Good introductions and available as samples as well.

For me, really hard to choose, Wenshan has been amazing for me lately. Fortunately, I do not have to choose only one to drink as well. :D As long as it is a fresh quality high grown greener Taiwan oolong, I will likely enjoy it.

Adagio Darjeeling this morning, and currently my B&B O-Cha Yutaka Midori.

Wow

I feel as though I'm looking down through the crevasse of a canyon and discovering a hidden sea of matcha.

Fantastic photo, Geekgirl. Gorgeous chawan, too. It does completely complement the tea!

Tried a white tea from Yunnan today which was interesting. Jin Zhi Yu Ye, very fresh with some citrus fruit taste, pretty interesting.

Having some Shui Xian now after dinner. Love being back with all my tea :D

Got some powdered sencha from Den's the other day. Put it in a bottled of water and iced it. Pretty good. I don't this is going to replace my regular non-powdered sencha, but pretty nice for what it is.

Pouchong is lonely and calling to me. Soon, my dear!

Thanks folks for the pic compliments. I appreciate them very much! Those little tiny bubbles fascinate me.

I'm intrigued by auggy using powdered tea to make iced tea. I think I'll have to try that.

Today was like a birthday party! New goodies from Scott at YSLLC and a new teabowl from Etsy. Yay!

I know next to nothing about Oolong varieties/regions. Though I have had some yummy Oolong from Ten Ren, it's just not my thing at the moment. Nice to have an unexplored area of Tea open to pursuit at some point in my life...

<-- YS Yunnan Gold... finishing that up to make way for the new shipments en route! Hope you all have a great day.

My first attempt to blend Aracha and the bleh aged Gyokuro has been not so good. Well, the first steep anyway. I want to find the right ratio of each to make it an acceptable everyday tea.
blah blah blah SENCHA blah blah blah!!!

Tung Ting or Dong Ding

by Angela Justice » Aug 4th, '08, 16:03

I vote for Tung Ting. I'm also a big fan of Li Shan. Sometimes I think Li Shan can be over priced.

Drinking a lovely Li Shan at the moment.

I'm a sucker for the depth and elegance of a medium to dark roasted Tung Ting Oolong, but find that generally most people like very green floral oolongs like Wen Shan or Li Shan.

I selected a lovely jade green oolong from Tung Ting for our Adagio Oolong #18. It was very exciting when it was picked as one of the semi-finalist in the World Tea Competition.
