My first impressions on Ocha's Chiran sencha.
I followed kevin's brewing instructions
2g (I am not accustomed to use such a small quantity) for 150ml
75°C 90s 30s 60s 120s
Small broken leaves as it is clearly fukamushi (deep steamed).
Very light taste, grassy. Pale green color.
The second steep was the most intense.
No trace of bitterness at all and quite no astringency either which indicates I might have used a longer first steep time and perhaps more leaves.
Anyway a good sencha.

The only white I have on hand is some Adagio White Peach, so I might have some of that later. I actually have not tried many whites other than the flavored sampler and also some silver needles from Teavana which was mostly tasteless. I have the unflavored white sampler on the way to me so I can explore them a bit.
In my cup this morning was some delicious Ooooh Darjeeling (which doesn't taste very oolongish at all to me, but I love Darjeeling so it works out just fine). Then I had a gyokuro session which left me buzzing... I think I got too much leaf because I drank about 5 good-sized sessions and it still wasn't done. So, I made some gyokuro rice cooked in the tea, and the leaves added... and some fresh tomatoes cut up in it... seasoned lightly with salt and pepper. Yummy lunch!
I may have the chance to visit a new tea shop this afternoon... will report back if I do.

***This organic blend is earthy & spicy, with a fragrant aroma & smooth flavor to captivate the senses. Naturally sweetened in the Kentucky sunshine & infused with natural energy. Equally delicious when served piping hot or crisply chilled.***

Stunning photo. Tea selling sites should use your photosSalsero wrote:Is it centered this time, Auggy?
GeekGirl, now aren’t you glad you already have it?
My most memorable white was Doke Royal Snow Bud from Kashanganj.

I'm embarrassed to admit, todays tea was Lipton Earl Grey....teabag....don't stone me please. My brother does not share my love for the leaf, so it had to do since I was a guest

For sencha I usually use around 5g for 150ml.Salsero wrote:olivierco wrote: 2g ... for 150mlWhy so little?
For one time I followed the instructions on the package:
4g for 300ml, take care not to brew too hot, for too long, or with too much loose leaf.
I will sure use more leaves for the next session.
