This morning, drinking Irish Breakfast.
No problem with this kyuusu:

I have something like 4 kyusu. I really only use two though. One of them sees 90% of my usage. The two unused ones I really should just give away or something. They're not very good.

 That looks like something Klingon or some kind of weird compass. Guess I'll have to chalk up the Japanese tea ceremony as another discrimination against lefties! :(

I think it was from rikyucha, one of the most dangerous store I know.
Yes, thank you, that is the one! I knew there was a good reason I didn't keep that link handy. Such temptation!

I have one. That's right, only one kyusu. Turns out I'm terribly finicky about kyusu, unlike yixing, cups, other pots, etc. I've probably spent more hours looking at and for them than for any other type of teaware.

A couple of months ago, I found the perfect one on ebay and fell in love with it. I was live bidding (didn't know about services,) and the auction ended at 2am. I fell asleep right before it ended and got outbid. Sad thing is I would have paid so much more than the other person won it for. I'm still :x over that. lol.

I have two, but both are fully glazed.

Only my morning Assam so far. I'm sure there will be much more tea later, given the cool, rainy weather.

But they do make them for left-handed people though! I'm just sure where, but I read somewhere that they're offered somewhere. I'm sure that there's a rather large population of left-handed Japanese, so they must make them.

For me, I don't have a kyushu yet, but I really really want one. I'm currently in the process of getting my yixing collection down, then moving onto Japanese teaware including Chawan and Tokonamae

Sorry Auggy, I can never remember the site, it is from Japan. I need to bookmark it!! But it was a one of a kind anyway. :(
One of a kind huh? Well, that means I'll just have to swipe yours somehow!

I have 7 kyusu or kyuusu, but not kyusus :?: Again, I wonder about the plural.

They each are used for different types or classes of Japanese tea. My favorite ones would be ones with Momiji (Japanese Maple) motif, but I like a lot of different ones as well. I am always looking.

While I tend to like Tokoname clay ones, I find either stoneware or glazed are more resistant to my occasional absent minded, brutish handling. I have broken a few. 99.9% of the time, I am so focused on the tea moment, but that .1% is dangerous. Clanking the spout, a little slip ... it is as if the kyusu is designed to keep you focused and make you pay with its own life if your focus wanes.

Good tea so far. Adagio Darjeeling to start the day.

Currently, Chiran YM a la O-Cha is singing in my cup. Quite a performance.

Good TeaDay on a dreary Friday everyone!

It will be hard to find one stateside, but left handed ones are available aplenty from Japan and are shipped to the USA.

There's no suffix for plurals in Japanese, so it's 1 kyuusu, 5 kyuusu. But sometimes I cheat and add an -s in English so as not to confuse people ("I have an embarrassing number of chawan-s").

I have 6 kyuusu of various sizes and materials ... four at home, two at the office. That's not counting a couple of houhin. (Chip, are you going to do a poll on how many of us own yusamashi? )

When I next go to Chinatown (looking for a gaiwan), I'm going to see if there are any of these, too. Our Chinatown is really kind of a mish-mash of various Asian cultures.

That is a good idea, I always feel a little strange posting w/out the "s" even when I know it is correct.

I would first do a poll on who knows what a yusamashi is! :D

Wow, Victoria, that's a beautiful set. Arita ware, I assume? Where did you find it? Va-va-voom!
