I'm thankful for advance notice. Last night at 7:30 PM, EST I found out that we were expected to bring Thanksgiving dinner.
ACK! We're vegetarians, the kids aren't, plus they haven't a thing in their house to eat other than ramen noodles and tea. (At least they have their priorities right.)
So I wrote up a grocery list and sent the husband person out to find everything and despite the news broadcast saying it was impossible to find everything, he did, including a fresh, never frozen 24 pound bird.
Got everything made except for the turkey, which is cooking in the oven.
Needed some high octane fuel this morning, so am on my fourth cup of The Other Beverage - a gorgeous high mountain arabica done to a full city roast and strong enough to float an anchor. Soon as this is finished, I'm starting in on a lovely Oolong (the tea, not the cat). The cats are in the kitchen lined up in front of the stove. I had to put covers over the burners since Simon Templar was trying to get into the oven by going through the vent under the back burner.
Toby (chow chow mix) is also in the kitchen watching the stove and drooling all over the floor. It's his first Thanksgiving and turkey. Not even going to tell you what the animals do when we are given half a deer for them. The other dogs are in here, watching Daddums test the pumpkin pie.
Thankful for Tea Chat, everyone here and Adagio for giving this wonderful site to us. Love you Adagio, love all of you - even if you don't drink black teas. Poor dears.
Bless Camellia Sinesis!
Whoo hooo! The cup is empty, I'm off to make Oolong!
Thankful was my vote!
My family is healthy. My spouse and I have stable jobs. My sons are employed.
Started the day with two cups of spiced chai and a fire in the fireplace.
The bird has been in the oven for about 1.5 hours and we'll be heading to another house around noon to feast with several other families!
Happy Thanksgiving!

It was a hard pick between thankfulness and togetherness. But, because togetherness is one of the things I am most thankful for, it won the contest and got my vote.
I have a close-knit family, and I am so lucky that most of my immediate family lives within 20 minutes of one another. We love getting together, not just at the holidays, but all year long... but holidays are special. We'll have a wonderful day... my parents, brother and his wife, sister, 5 nephews, 2 nieces, one great-niece, at least 3 dogs (maybe 4 if Ella comes), and more food than we can eat in a week.
Every holiday that comes along gets more precious to me... my parents are both 75 years old this year. I can't imagine the day when they won't be here, don't even like to think about it. So, togetherness is my priority today. One of the worse transgressions we, as humans, can make is to be given magnificent, immeasurably valuable blessings in life...and to fail to appreciate them. So, I am thankful today for all the gifts I've been given... including my TeaChat friends.
In my cup is a nice 2nd flush Darjeeling I got as a sample from a teafriend... very smooth and pleasant.

Happy Thanksgiving... I hope everyone has a wonderful day.

Thankfulness for me! There are sooo many things to be thankful for in my life.
I will be visiting a friends house for turkey day to enjoy a wonderful meal. I'm making buttery brussels sprouts to bring to the dinner
Usually Thanksgiving is one of those few days of the year when I indulge in COFFEE
. It just goes so well with all of the rich desserts!
Fukamushi right now.
Happy Thanksgiving!

Togetherness is the key component to Turkey Day. I almost had a scare this year because my family (my HUGE family) didn't say a word about what we were gonna do about the holiday until the day before so I thought we weren't gonna get together. It felt sad and awkward... Luckily, plans WERE made and everyone's coming over heeeeere.
My family is from Chile and we're all tea-drinkers. I think I'll offer them some of my tea, but I can't make a big brew. :( I should really buy a big steeping kettle for times like this!

Travel, for me. We're away from home in a cabin up in the mountains. I'm still cooking Thanksgiving dinner, though! There will be iced black tea with dinner, and various hot teas throughout the day.
Although my neighbors are all barbarians,
And you, you are a thousand miles away,
There are always two cups on my table.

Handmade Nilgiri to start the day with a slice of pumpkin pie!!
My share of the cooking is minimal this year - my famous (requested at every family event ) green beans - salad and rolls.
T is for Thankfulness! I'm thankful for all the many blessings in my life and also for TeaChat and the wonderful friends I've met here. I hope you all have a Happy Thanksgiving! Those who are driving, be extra careful and stay safe!
And to all my non-USA friends may you have a lovely, enjoyable TeaDay!

Sal: Gotta love the internet for cute stuff!
Sarah: Cute turkey-gobbling smiley! Where do you find those?
I voted for togetherness, although most of the Ts could apply.
This morning I'm on my second cup of Nilgiri Craigmore Estate.
Happy Turkey Day Everyone!
I got the smiley eating the turkey leg at: http://www.33smiley.com. I make no safety assertions, but got no alerts about spyware and the like here... I think it's ok, but who knows! I just right-clicked to save the ones I wanted, and uploaded them to photobucket so I can link from there instead of going to the smiley site every time. I saved lots... they are really cute. If I get annoying with inserting cute smileys into my posts, someone poke me and let me know.
But who could poke a face like this?

A Surprise Teapot & a New Thanksgiving Tradition
My husband's late father knew he'd die years before my husband got married, so he bought a set of China as a decades-early wedding gift. The gift was given in the 80s and we got married only last year. We only take any out of the 3 dusty boxes of china at Thanksgiving, and I was surprised today to find a really nice teapot buried at the bottom of the box with the rest of a 12-piece tea service.

So we had a bit of tea to finish our Thanksgiving meal. Adagio's spearmint tea was the only choice since a decaf was necessary for one family member. But it turned out to be a great choice to soothe stomachs at the end of a heavy meal. I think spearmint tea will become a new Thanksgiving tradition.
