I've got plenty of commerical advertising mugs and some holiday mugs - Frosty the Snoman, etc. but they don't get used. I wouldn't say any of mine were exquisite...just functional. :D

Darjeeling in plain white mug this morning.

I tossed all my weird looking mugs/cups when I moved in July. The worst one was probably just the one I got last Christmas with my name with a Santa hat on it. It was a coffee mug that probably holds 16oz, far too large for any use other than to hold pens, but with the Santa hat I couldn't stand having it around. Looked too silly.

My collection started off as being anything blue. All of my teacups were blue, but none of them matched. Now I'm starting to branch off as I fall in love with other teaware, my $4 antique store purchase of a Japanese cup with hand-painted crabs on it just wouldn't fit into the blue cup category.

All of my cups are exquisite!

I hope to see/read about some really funny cups here today! ;)

gingko - Ha! that's awesome! If you have two other friends that like to drink the same tea and you don't care about "cooties" then this would be the ultimate sharing cup! :D

 You know, admitting that you have or had a goofy cup (even if it was given to you) will not get you condemned here. This was not a TeaSnobbery test.

I received a Star Trek (original series) ceramic mug which since I drank tea when it was given to me, I call it a teamug. The characters including Kirk, Spock, and McCoy are visible on the "transporter," but when HOT water is poured into the cup, they beam out (disappearing) to where no man has gone before! Yep, pretty goofy, and I would not get rid of it!

Started the day with Chiran YM from O-Cha. This drew quite a crowd, maybe because it was so good today. Sweetie again enjoyed it, Wulong, Gandalf, Pyrit, and TEAh were spectators.
blah blah blah SENCHA blah blah blah!!!

I have a nice Yixing pot with a pig on the top. the handle is shaped a bit like a tail, and the spout looks a bit like a pig's snout. Interested readers can check it out here.

I frequently use my Froggy cup for when I'm just in the mood for "happy tea."

Gosh it's cold today, 35°F but feels like 18°F. It was so cold that my car's speed odometer is frozen. So I was driving to work with the speed saying zero the whole trip. It's risky I know, but how does one "unfreeze" a frozen odometer? Maybe if I kick it, it should work again lol.

I'm about to brew up some Raspberry Sangria from Teavana to warm me up.

Wow, this poll reminds me of Twilight Zone's " Eye of the Beholder"

What one deems exquisite, others may deem goofy.
IMHO, I have seen some teacups poosted here in TeaWare that I deem far from exquisite. Yet surprisingly a few from those who 'owned up' to owning only exquisite cups! However as stated, my opinion...
That said, my goofiest "mug' was never used - it was a gift, very glossy finish with a plaid design w/raised yellow flowers on it!!! Yes, it is now in the trash as friend moved on
I like Kogni, am looking forward to fun today and Chip, yours is a great story, sounds like a sentimental cup as well.

Glenburn Wiry Vintage to start the day, leaving for a trip, I need to be wired to travel. Be back in a few weeks, will miss you all!

Have a FAb TeaDay! And Merry Christmas. Sa!, luv your cup!

Does an Amazon.com travel mug count? (I got it free with an order once upon a time.) The way yixing pots can often be reserved for particular teas, my travel mugs function for teas - one for green oolongs and light teas, one for high-fired, another for puerh ... and another if I feel like taking coffee along.

I have an infinitessimally small yixing cup (about the size of a large thimble). It came inside a yixing pot.

My goofiest teacup would be an odd shaped cup with an angel's face molded into it. It's actually quite sweet and a good friend gave it to me, so im keepin it forever and ever! :P

It came free with a tea pot I ordered. It's not bad at all.

It was a balmy -5°F when I woke up this morning.

I have a collection of fun mugs that were given to me as gifts over the past years. I have a mug with Star Wars characters on it, a yellow mug with a smiley face, a white mug with black line drawings of aliens on it, a Harry Potter Slytherin mug, and a handmade looking one that says "Rocket Scientist."

I started today with gingerbread tea. Not quite as good as the chestnut tea, but tastes very much like cookies. Currently in my cup, not tea, but peppermint hot chocolate. I love the chocolate-peppermint soy milk that comes out during the holidays. It tastes absolutely awesome warmed up in the microwave.

All my cups are exquisite. I have indeed some mugs from which I quite never drink tea (with the exception of my Bart Simpson mug from which I have recently tasted a top gyokuro).

Kaboku sencha (Ippodo) in a few minutes.
