Yes to this one... a year ago, I didn't really know much about kyusu or yixing or gaiwan brewing. I now own and use all 3, which I couldn't have anticipated.
In my cup so far this morning... Adagio's Pouchong, re-roasted by me last night. The first cup last night was magically delicious... still nice this morning, but I'm ready for something with more kick.
As Chip would say... NEXT

+1 here
Sal - lovely photo!
gingko - I never thought about brewing in a shot glass, but thanks for sharing that. I shall try it out because that sounds super interesting to me.
This morning, having Harney's English breakfast w/ a piece of Ghirardelli espresso dark chocolate. Mmm... sugar.

I bought a little blue yixing teapot this year. I might have thought about purchasing it before coming to TeaChat, but I wouldn't have really known what it was beyond "small, blue, cute."

I love the glass tea pot I got w/ the strainer in the cover! It allows for clean pouring while still letting the tea leaves have freedom of movement.

Ohhh, yeah, I've used lots of new "goodies" this year! Although I still depend on my IngenuiTEA quite a bit. (I know, groans from the peanut gallery!)
This morning I have some Adagio Cinnamon. I like that the cinnamon flavor is subtle and doesn't overwhelm the tea flavor.

Yes, this time last year, I was overly fond of my 16oz mug and a teaball. Then I started learning about other tea wares and ended up with a few infuser baskets, two kyusu, one gaiwan, a yixing pot, a glass teapot, and a smaller cup. I completely adore my kyusu with the side handles since they are so much easier for me to pour and keep the lids on than the back handled teapots.
Today, I am drinking Adagio's Ali Shan oolong and am thoroughly enjoying it.

After i swore i'd never let my water boil in iron, I bought and used a tetsubin kettle.
However, I'm not convinced it makes good tea.

Well, I feel like a 'raving lunatic' hitting every TeaDay topic for the week that I have missed since I am not at home! My dear Sis is writing all my posts for me since I do not have access to a computer. We are talking by phone while she is typing for me. She agreed, half-heartedly to do it for me all in one day. Thanks Sis.
Yes I have the TeaDay Blues bad...could the scheduled full moon have anything to do with it????
My teaware horizons have expanded greatly and my need for more continues to grow, even tho' I always cannot justify needing more than 1 gaiwan..etc. But, really why not
Mom and I shared Neela this morning of course w/more to come later.
Have a Fab TeaDay everyone and a great start of the weekend!

This isn't so simple for me. See, I bought myself two glazed kyusu and a gaiwan this year, after having used only infuser baskets, but still voted no, since I had never ruled out any sort of teaware. Now I just need a yixing or two, and an unglazed kyusu, and more yunomi, and some chataku, and... It's a sickness.
Glad to have power this afternoon after last night's ice storm and ensuing power outages. I can have tea! In my cup: Wuyi Amber, ol' reliable.

Pretty high brow stuff you are sipping, partner.
Do I sound like I am in a rut if I say no, I don't think so? My cups are still small, my fave pots are still kyusu. I guess I have been drinking tea too long? Well, one thing I started doing this year was cold brewing, but I had the teawares to accomplish this.
Started the TeaDay with O-Cha Chiran YM, getting dangerously LOW!!! Sweetie was drinking faster than I was. Gandalf just watched and DROOLED, Pyrit threw herself down in protest over no treats in the house, and Wulong showed up late.
Adagio Yunnan Noir came next. Speaking of "next,"

My little inexpensive kyusu has been new tea joy for me this year. Ready to graduate to a more upscale version when I find one that calls to me.
So far today, Yunnan Gold and Sencha Overture. Considering a China black for my next cup... oh, decisions!

I picked up my first (and second, and third

) yixing pot this year. Before that I had learned all about oolongs from an infuser basket and a coffee mug.

Last year at this time I was still brewing tea in my mug with loose leaf; however, it was in one of those mesh ball things. I've learned my lesson since then, and I look back at those days and think, "what was I thinking?!"
