The worst for me, that made me sick literally, was honeybush. That made me stay clear of anything that smelled a little floral, too. I had to give away a lot of my white teas and black teas that smelled a bit floral to me. Worst experience ever.
This morning, I'm debating whether to make mango green or genmaicha. Can't decide.
They are not all like that. The bad ones are. That probably was a cheap shu.paisleymonsoon wrote:My worst tea was a pu-erh sample by Golden Moon Tea. It tasted quite like someone had swept out someone's outdoor storage shelter and made a tea of the dust and moldy leaves they'd swept up. If all pu-erhs taste like that, I cannot understand the craze. Please tell me all pu-erhs aren't like that.
Rooibos got my vote. I always try it even though I know that I don't like the stuff ["But it tastes so good, blah blah"]. Just can't get down more than a sip.
Oh, I just remembered the Korean powdered "mostly gensing" stuff from a couple of months ago...yeah, that was probably the worst.
So far in my cup this morning: Adagio's Chestnut with a few Stevia drops and a splash of cream. Now on to brew some Ooooh Darjeeling.

Now that I think about it, there have been a few other awful cups this year, mostly gifts by well-meaning friends. Two of those: Twinings peach black bags (very stale tasting), Zumi darjeeling with raspberry bags (strong and dusty).
These moments are opportunites to practice grace and appreciation (then take them home, give each tea one more chance, wait 2 weeks, and figure out how to get rid of them

For me, the worst tea of the year is anything that has Rooibos in it. That accursed bush just leaves a terrible vomit-like aftertaste in my mouth. I'm much, much happier with a cup of Honeybush than I am with Rooibos.
In my cup right now is a lovely Lychee Jasmine Green. Perfect for stalling the early-afternoon munchies.

I believe drinking tea makes me a better artist. But hey, I also believe I'm completely sane.
I had some gawd awful Ti Kuan Yin Oolong Tea earlier this year. I composted the entire 8 oz after just two sessions with it.
PLEASE! If anyone knows of a good Kuan Yin tea, preferably organic, please post or PM me. From what I've heard this is one of the quintessential oolongs and I would rather not have such a bad perception of it. Thanks!
Drinking matcha sencha that I picked up from the Japanese grocery store the other week. Basically it's sencha dusted with matcha. Yum!

I am pretty blessed this year, I cannot think of a single really BAD brew this year. Seriously, I have used the line, "another great TeaDay," here so many times that I have to force myself NOT to say it anymore.
I have had some teas that I know are not my cuppa tea, but I cannot say they were bad either. I think the one tea that stands out was a TGY sample from the Expo, really mediocre, lol, that just strikes me as funny. The worst tea of the year was a mediocre sample.
OH, maybe that sample I drank at the Expo that had alcohol in it which I would never ever had drunk, even after I asked what it was, the guy said "just go ahead and try it." That broke more than 20 years without a drop of alcohol.

Started the TeaDay with the very last of my Chiran YM from O-Cha. Sweetie likes it, Gandalf just wanted to drool, and the rest were too busy playing or sleeping to join in.
.
Perhaps lapsang souchong was the worst – couldn't finish it which rarely happens.
Then yunnan gold didn't appeal to me at all
And some flavored Rooibos from Dragonwater was not so great either.
Unlike some of you I actually like Rooibos
Going to have some jasmine flavored white tea which came as a freebee to all Adagio customers. Very nice indeed!

For sure some cooked pu.... I developed a firewall reaction earlier this year, sought of a bad tea warning which usually ended up a headache and unsettling mood.... might be an unfortunate thing, perhaps?

My worst was definitely a Cherry Rooibus. It was so bad, even the one rooibus I owned and had liked, I could longer take because of the similarity. Horrible.
Second worse was a mini rose toucha but at least it didn't turn me off towards all puerh.
In my cup this morning is Tao of Tea Bohea, a morning favorite.
It is pouring down rain here.
