We'll be taking down the Christmas tree and decorations today, planning on enjoying lots of tea while doing it. No tea yet, though.
Mostly vegging today. Yesterday Darjeeling and I had a 16 1/2 hour drive after 11 days visiting family in Illinois. So I am not fit company for New Year's Day gatherings with friends. And my brain thinks I'm still in another time zone - even after staying up too late last night, my eyes popped open at 6 A.M. (ugh). Guess that means I deserve a nap later on.
Teas so far today: started with White Darjeeling hot, then moved on to Chai as a basis for a warm egg-nog smoothie.

Happy New Year folks!
I'm touching up the shoveling at home then off to my Mom's to shovel her out.
Later today our kids are coming over for dinner, then tomorrow we're off to Rochester.
This morning's cups were an odd combination of final infusions from last night's `tea with friends': song zhong dancong from Jing and a wei shan mao jian yellow tea from Teaspring.
This yellow tea is wild. The dry leaves smell like barbecued potato chips, and after a couple of infusions this tones down to barbequed baby back ribs with perhaps a touch of brown mustard:-) (pine roasted?) The scents were so distinctive that it was difficult to focus on the flavors. I'll have to go in again for a serious look but my impression was light broad and rich in the mouth with delicate tones of cooked squash.
I love the dancong too, but I had self-inflicted problems with the brew. I have previously gotten 11 infusions from this dancong. It starts with all peach in the nose and palate. By the third brew apricot starts to emerge in the mouth it eventually dominates the peach flavors entirely. This tea was not noticeably roasted. It is one of my favorite dancongs along with Hou de's Ba Xian.
Wishing all of you an excellent 2009.

I will watch the grand daddy of all bowls at 5, the Rose Bowl since Penn State is playing. Otherwise, some Twilight Zone marathon, family, cooking, eating, and certainly TEA.
Started the TeaDay with Fukamushi Supreme from O-Cha. Sweetie enjoyed it, Pyrit was just interested in a belly rub. I guess everyone else was recovering from last night.
blah blah blah SENCHA blah blah blah!!!
Yes NCAAF. I have just watched Oregon vs Oklahoma St. which I recorded yesterday night.Chip wrote:American Football?olivierco wrote:Today some cooking, college football watching, reading and tea drinking.

Hmmm, you think you can waltz in here and throw the revered name Miyabi down on your first post on TeaChat and not call attention to yourself.guitar9876 wrote:sencha miyabi from o-cha in my cup today. just chillin today...
Just had a nice session of Sencha Premier from Adagio. I have noticed it is hard to mess this up, having forgotten about the second steep that was left to steep a few minutes more than once ... came out fine. Sweetie joined in while Gandalf just wanted to be held.
