Nope for me. Well, I guess I could be, but I just don't really have time.

Jasmine green in my cup. It's ok, I think I'm getting tired of it though. If I don't have time I put that in my cup. I need to find a new tea!

I'm not obsessive, I'm just systematic and thorough. Like others here, I measure and time everything, take notes about new teas, and have side-by-tastings to evaluate new classes of teas so I can understand their styles. Also, I plan to start evaluating beans, squashes, nuts and exotic fruits to develop my palate for describing the incredible scents and flavors found in some tea cups.
You see? That's systematic.

Dark Oolong (Wuyi) from Mem Imports this morning.

Those are actually teavana tins that I decorated with scrapbooking paper. I also did that with some of my herbal teas. And even wrote on them with the proper brewing instructions for each one.
That is so creative! I love the idea :)

Voted I don't think so because there are times when I become quite careless with time, temp, or measurements because I would be in a rush. Then there would be times where I need to be precise- I have my on and off days.

Having matevana right now. I plan on brewing some alishan next to warm me up on this snowy day.

No, not really. Though this is coming from someone with a color-coordinated closet, so my view my be a bit skewed. I always use a scale and occasionally bust out the thermometer if the required temp is lower than my zojirushi settings but I don't stress about those things and just use them as a way to keep me within the brewing guidelines I'm following for a particular tea. When I get really particular and detailed about something, it is because it stresses me out. Tea does the opposite so no OCD-ish behavior.

1854 in my cup this morning. Stressful day today, but I have a volunteer helping me today so that's good.

Yes, Maiko. I hadn't thought about it, but they are very polished looking leaves. Why? And more entire little needles than most other sencha I can remember.
Try these needles on for size.

Maybe? I'm rather particular about being stocked up, and get stressed when stores are low--though for me that means having only half a tin of this, one of that, etc., not nearly out of tea. As for the actual brewing process, well, I'm an inveterate eyeballer and estimator.

Maybe I'll have some pumpkin spice to go along with my leftover curried chickpeas.

Decided to start the day with Ippodo Obukucha. I'm not really that thrilled with this tea. It seems a pretty bland genmai.

I can get pretty OCD about certain things, and was about many asects of tea for quite some time, but I seem to have relaxed just a tad in brewing, but maybe that is just because it is more common routine for me and less challenging, hmmm. But I rarely use a timer after the first steep anymore, one small steep for man, one giant leap for mykind. 8)

Freshness and proper storage of leaf is likely my number one obsession/compulsion with tea these days, which is logical since I am so into Japanese greens. I go to great lengths to assure the freshest leaf possible will find its way into my kyusu.

Started the day with Fukamushi Supreme from O-Cha which was very good as always. I am trying to use this up since it has been open going on a month. Sweetie doens't seem to mind the repitition. Pyrit and Wulong provided entertainment.

Adagio Nepal FF came next, a nice gift I received for Christmas. It seems as if other tea regions in India are catching up to Darjeeling, and this is one such case.

I can't think of anything tea related that I feel compulsive about, although I do always take a good sniff of what's brewing. Today it's Gunpowder.
