On weekdays I brew morning tea in a 12oz chatsford porcelain pot and afternoon sencha in an 8oz kyusu, so I voted for less than 12oz. However, whenever I have the time to brew properly or when I brew special teas I use a 140ml gaiwan.

I usually drink three pots of tea in the morning. I fill the 12oz pot with fresh leaf once and brew three or four pots. I don't have to spend too much time fussing over making the tea, and it's easy to plan the amount of leaf I use daily. Plus, with the Chatsford pot even lower grade teas -- teas with broken leaves and tea dust -- taste their best, so I can use less expensive daily teas if I need to reduce my tea expenses.

Upton's 1st grade TGY this morning.

Hmmm, probably around 8oz. I use a mug and infuser at my desk. I'm drinking mostly darjeeling and pekoe at work and brew up full mugs each time.

Margaret's Hope estate darjeeling this morning.

We stupid Europeans too lazy to go look at a converter do not vote today

Cherylopal: Which sort of white tea? They can be quite different from each other.

Have some Margaret's Hope Darjeeling together with my lunch. Earlier I've had Jin Xuan Oolong, Jasmine Pearls, Baozhong and Houjicha.

Have a nice teaday, everyone!

I've been using my ingenuiTEA lately so my brews are usually about 16 oz. I am considering buying a gaiwan, and I am sure that once I get one, it will get used often and that will change my average brew size. Now if only I could just pick one, too many beautiful ones to choose from.

my morning cup is always a western style black and it runs anywhere between 6-8 oz. Afternoon is usually a smaller cup of green and then if I have time in the evening I will steep some smaller 2-3 oz cups. On Tuesday and Thursday mornings though I steep a 14oz travel mug to keep me awake at the kid's soccer practice :D

I am SO not a morning person!

I still use my ingenuiTEA for most brews, so generally 16 oz but I've been on a big silver needle fix lately and I enjoy it more when I brew it at 8 oz cups. I haven't gotten around to buying myself a gaiwan yet but hopefully I will soon!

It is Autumn and I haven't yet decided well enough what I think to post my comments in the Romancing the Dream thread. I am finding the flavor extremely light.

Hmm, this is a tough one for me. If I am drinking by myself, I go for 6 - 8oz (sometimes 10 but that's after a rough day). If I'm sharing w/ DH, I typically do 16 - 20oz total. And in the morning I do 28oz (16 for him, 12 for me). So the size of my steeps depend on the situation in which I am drinking the tea, I suppose. My single serving evening steeps have been getting a little smaller lately, but that's based more on what cup I want to use - I have more cuter small cups now than I used to.

I have to write 3 checks, print out a calendar and make 7 CD labels and then I'll be done with work for the day. So I brought a crochet project to work on - my mom requested a tea cozy. Ah, I see a productive day ahead!

Ruska tea for me today.

Salsero wrote:During the day, typically western style brewing with 6 or 7 ounces. As the day wanes, however, I tend to switch to sencha with 4 or 5 ounces, gyokuro with much less, or Chinese style gong fu with less than 4 ounces. So I took an average and said less than 6. Do you think that's too much caffeine?

Wow! More like too much bourbon!

I have a mug that I use in the morning and do 16 oz. western style. This morning I filled it with some Ceylon Sonata.

I prefer to brew it as I drink it, so it's a cup or less for me.

No one answer.

Depends on what type of tea I'm brewing.

Varies from a small single serving gaiwan/yixing pot through a larger cup infusion (12-14 oz cup) to a multiserving pot of tea.

Getting down to the last of my Nilgiri (in my cup this morning).

Wow, most of you brew less than 4 oz? Even the Chinese who introduced me to gongfu used pots that were 150 ml, and mine are between 125-160. I didn't think that this would be the high end of the scale.
