Bob M. wrote:Not exactly a surprise that China wins again here in Woodstock, as Upton's Szechuan Zao Bei Jian Congu was my February winner, which was also my first cup of the day.

I did a big order at Upton this month and am pretty happy with just about everything I've gotten from them.

My friend Amanda is opening a teashop in Woodstock, behind Bread Alone. I think it's actually opening today. I think she's only carried Harney Teas, because her husband is a sales rep, but she makes wonderful tea cozies, and has great taste in accessories as far as I can tell. I still have to make it over there to see it.

As for me, I think I made Chinese Green tea most consistently, but I can't really think of any tea I drank twice. February is too short, although I'm quite excited for spring.

My favorite tea in February was Kiri-no-Mori from O-cha:

As you can see, I liked it a lot.

I guess I should post more often  , given that I had a pair of nice surprises in reply today!

Nice to see you here, Cheryl! I see you're quite the chatter, given that you've got over a hundred posts more than I do in a shorter time. I'm a major lurker, though, rarely miss a day and have gotten lots of great suggestions from the nice folk here.

ToastedToad, thanks! I know exactly the shop you mean. Though I had no idea what was going in there, I've been keeping my eye on what's looked like a handsome renovation, and will surely be stopping by now. Like most small towns in this economy, we've been losing small shops like crazy, so I hope she can swim against the tide.

Wow you must have really liked that tea! I hope you have some more or some on the way.

My favorite february tea is Oolong Formosa It was my first oolong I have ever tried. I loved it! So sweet and different from green and black, will be getting more in the future.

Have'nt had any tea yet but probably either sencha or green chai.

Sencha "the ultimate" (Zencha) this afternoon.
I forgot to add it on my best tea of the month list.

The replacement stash arrived yesterday. Yay! (...which is good, as the "empty tin" pic was taken yesterday morning.)

I ordered a tin of Yame and one of Yuuki Konjo so I'll have some in reserve and not have to cut it so close next time.

Just a simple ol sencha from Japan for me this month.

I'm guessing I'll brew some hojicha (that I made from my simple ol' sencha) in a few minutes :) mmmmm toasty

My favorite tea of the month....MATCHA!

Matcha from O-Cha has filled my bowl virtually every day at least once this month. I plan to check out other vendors, however so far Matcha Maten is da bombe!

What else but green to start my day, sencha premier in my cup. Next  [as Chip would say]
perhaps Matcha

(Victoria, I am craving a purple matcha bowl since you posted your gorgeous picture  Those radioactive colors keep creeping into my mind, so I think I need to find one!)
Have a FAB TeaDay Everyone!

Hands down it was the teas I had at Teahabitat with Imen. Amazing Dan Congs.

Usually my favorites are Indian, but this month I have been really enjoying Adagio's Fujian Baroque and some Yunnan samples that I got in a tea swap, so China is my vote for February.

No tea yet this morning, but I'm leaning toward a Nilgiri.

Japan for me with the Yutaka Midori. Sadly, I finished it up this morning. There was just enough for a smaller session. At least my Den's order should be here on Monday.

As usual for me, my cup has been bountifully filled with delicious Darjeelings and Oolongs for the month of February. I initially expected my poll answer to reflect the arrival of the Oolong Pass Box, but in truth, I haven't had a chance to sample most of what I kept from the box yet.

So... I have realized something fairly mind-boggling. Between some teas I had on hand, some delicious samples from a friend, a recently-delivered order from O-Cha, and an en-route order from Den's... it appears that for the first time ever in the history of my tea-drinking, my answer today must be Japan.

I've had matcha or sencha or both every day since the samples first arrived... and it's been an enjoyable change of pace for me. I'm fickle and tend to go in cycles on craving certain things, so we'll see how long this green phase lasts. The beauty of tea is, I can go through a craving cycle for something new, but that doesn't mean I neglect or forget my old favorites.

In my cup now, Pussimbing FF Darjeeling... and I am thinking of some Tenho Organic Fukamushi later. Mmmm.

Sarah
***This organic blend is earthy & spicy, with a fragrant aroma & smooth flavor to captivate the senses. Naturally sweetened in the Kentucky sunshine & infused with natural energy. Equally delicious when served piping hot or crisply chilled.***

No way!!! You finished it already HA.

After careful and lengthy deep consideration, I chose Japan.

And the best tea, this was harder, but the best gyokuro I have ever had had to get the nod, Kame from O-Cha. Why did it take so long to try this? I must have been in some kind of gyokuro denial stage.

Started the day off with Sencha Premier from Adagio brewed in a new Hagi kyusu that is da bombe of all bombs with matching cups. SweeTea was impressed while Pyrit, Wulong, TEAh and Lil' Bit made cameos and all applauded the new teaware!!! :D

Next up, Fukamushi Supreme from O-Cha, awesome as always!

I had a pretty good time with my sheng puerh this month. This one is the 2003 Keyixing with some Black Cherry blossoms. Unfortunately, this particular tea seems to me to be declining, rather than improving in the last couple years. Still makes a pretty picture though.

No DSL at home, so will be posting at odd times, if at all, until it is restored.
