Visual is more important to me the first time I steep a new tea. But I go much more on smell - in tea and in general.

However, if visual counts regarding presentation - an essential step for me on weekends or days off is the preparation of my tea tray - the pot, all the accoutrements, cloth napkin, etc. I am not a foofy person most of the time, but it reminds me there are times you should be decadent for decadence sake!

Hey Ginko! Jing listed 2009 Meng Ding a week or so ago.

I may have gone too high, 30%. Visual is important to me in the appreciation of the tea and teaware, but it is so very surface compared to other senses. As I contemplated my answer, I thought, what if I blindfolded myself, how much would I miss the visual? Perhaps I should have followed that angle in the topic instead ... nevertheless, I do appreciate the visual aspect of tea quite a bit.

Started the day with Gyokuro Yame from Zencha in a very visually appealing Hagi gyokuro set.

SweeTea liked it a lot. Pyrit was there for head rubs only, Ceylon made a rare cameo appearance to the TeaTable. :D

Interesting thought Chip, it would've put a different spin on answers I do believe. I just adore that gyokuro set! 8) It's a sweetie

How do you like that Gyrokuro from Zencha? Does it rank up there with your other faves?

Yeah, the set is quite shuweet!

The Yame is pretty good, not as good as I remember from 2006/2007. I might ask them about that.

Just finished a Taiwan Oolong with a special friend, TeaSpring's everyday version, Cui Yui. It is good.

I voted 20% but that may be "high". I don't formalize my tea experience, but as others have stated, I do enjoy seeing my tea leaves opening and flexing their muscles when I use my glass pot.

Margaret's Hope darjeeling in the mug today.

Although I like very much (too much perhaps) teaware and I appreciate the color fo the tea and nice looking tealeaves, most of my tea enjoyment is about taste.

Kanro gyokuro in a few minutes.

I have to say 30% I really enjoy all the visual aspects of my tea,
which is why I have always been so drawn to glass teaware.
Glass really shows the beauty of oolongs.

My first cup this morning: Magnolia Oolong

Have a nice day everyone!

Hi All,

I said 30%, but it might well be higher.
My tea buddy at work brews our tea in a small coffee maker, we always comment on the color of the finished tea in the carafe, then we always comment how it looks in our white cups.

Yesterday morning when hubby and I were having tea and breakfast outside, I loved seeing the steam rise from the cups.

I remember a conversation I had with an old boss once about smokers...he had read of a study that indicated that smokers were so visually oriented to smoking that if they were blinded they tended to give up smoking.

Very interesting question.

Started the day with some Ceylon in my travel mug. My tea buddy at work made Russian Caravan for us (we both really enjoyed this new tea on Friday). Right now in my cup some O-cha Kabusecha.

Looking good,
Dreamer

What a gorgeous cup Victoria!

I think 20% visual sounds about right. It may be more or less depending on the tea and teaware I'm using. Some teas just call for a more visual experience.

No tea yet, I've been passed out all day from Vicodin. :( But I'm heating up my zoji to make some beloved sencha.

Hope everyone else is having a nice day!

But it's from Tevana, and much nicer in person then on their website.
