The basics

by Intuit » Mar 18th, '09, 13:26

Best riverbed clay gone long ago, mined or now underwater (hydropower projects).

Simple classic shapes are best.

How clay is worked before artist begins to form teapot is very important - more than source of clay.

How clay is fired after shaping is also important. High temperature better than low temperature.

Number of overseas buyers of yixing teapots is now smaller and they are not as eager to spend money. Buyers seek quality teaware. Too many poor quality teapots coming out of China.

Do not overcharge on shipping - we are not that stupid.

thanks very much for your advice.

the perfect teapot in china has artist's centification. it is their brand.

the shipping fee, 1 kg,ems is 355 yuan to england. 315 yuan to usa. but seller in china have a dicount 5 generally, so to england about 175yuan about $25.7. to usa about 157 yuan about$ 23.

a big teapot + package + centifacation is more than 1kg.

a small teapot + package + centifcation is less than 1kg but more than 0.5kg

because every country has different shipping money. and different teapot has differnt shipping money , so Under normal circumstances, shipping fee sellers generally using is 1kg to usa.

of course, if near china and small teapot. you can Consultation with sellers

personally, I struggle to find good quality pots that are small enough for me to use - somewhere around 60-90ml seems to be the sweet spot.
