Well my new piece is only "teaware" by the fact that I have designated it so. It is actually a vintage Japanese black lacquer letter box with beautiful flying cranes and tidal waves from the Taisho era (c. 1910-1920) The interior lined with original yuzen paper that is still in good condition. I will be using it to store tea utensils.

Very cool Crane box! A very nice find indeed. It looks like the waves are reaching up to grasp the cranes. Excellent find.

I really find delight in the use of cranes by the Japanese in teaware, etc and have noticed many others do as well.

Let me know if you find another

A new addition, Taiwan made Mansheng Zhuni Pear shape. Perhaps its from the 90s?
Trying to imitate a famous Qing's Imperial dragon kiln seal inside the pot. What a give a way... but at the end of the day, makes a good cup of tea.

Also got one of these nice handcrafted cherry vine teapick from a NY tea lover. He crafted these as a hobby, for use on his daily Kung Fu brewing. I can't resist buying one from him. The wabi quality of the nature vine add zen's moment in ones tea preparation.

Got my new teapot from Fun Alliance last week (along with 3 teas).
This teapot replaces my old 12$ pot from yunnansourcing which accidently had some tea which grew moldy (forgot all abt the tea for a few days, and then it was too late).

I only got the pictures from funalliances sites as my digi camera has gone fubar

You should be able to see the amount of detail thats gone into this teapot.

As far as I can tell (not being an expert by any means) it seems like a real yixing clay pot, you can feel its circular "waves" on the inside of the pot which should indicate that its atleast handmade...

After washing it, I notice that theres some dark kind of color shaded into the carvings on the outside, possible to give it more 3d feel or make the carvings stand more out. In any case, it doesnt wanna seem to come off though.

Edit, if anyone interested, its 7oz or 210 ml in size.

I ordered the TGY, the Melon Seed 2008 (the one thats not sold out yet) and Honey Orchid Lone Bush.
Kam's TGY is excellent, better than the one I got from yunnansourcing and teaspring. I did a gungfu cha brewing yesterday, the aroma from the tea quickly spread in my apartment, very very good tea.

The Honey Orchid is one of my favourites of the dark roasted teas, in my humble opinion it beats the Big Red Robe (from yunnan), the aftertaste of this last for abt 10-20 mins.
The melon seed I've only tasted a few times, reminds me of Dragon Well tea.

My Japanese cast iron tetsubin, not new to me but I hadn't taken a decent picture of it so here it is:

New chabishaku from Japan as my old one cracked though this one is already showing cracks too, argh, just too dry with the furnace still running:

And another covered kutani bowl (gaiwan) and plate/saucer:

If you notice in the first picture, there's a bit of an oval bump - Kenji left a fingerprint in the pot. Kinda cool :)

This little beauty arrived this afternoon.

Image

I christened it with O-Cha's Yutaka Midori and then with Zencha's Ultimate Sencha.

I didn't realize until I unpacked it that it has a dimple!
