Where else could I find photos of hagi ware so lovingly displayed?
So beautiful!
Curiosity
Same thing that brought me here, keeps me here.
Presently trying to sort through various terra cotta and ball clay deposits in England, China and Japan, to assess out their influence on teaware produced from these clays and their effects on tea infusions.
Oriental Beauty in the cup.
PS: very few places to chat about teaware and teas with like-minded sorts.
The foo-foo "lets have a fluffy pink teaparty" websites are nauseating.

I voted tea fellowship, but thought "all of the above."
Nobody really understands my tea obsession (as my brother calls it) so it's nice to interact with people who get it. Plus I learn something new about tea just about every day.
Three Brothers from TeaSource in my cup this morning. Getting ready for an outing with my daughter, niece and nephew to the Children's Museum.

Did you get the Kenji? I hope to see photos of your wares!GT500Driver wrote: Great start to my teaday here. Opened a package from Artistic Nippon, my first actually. I'm now the proud owner of a Tokoname kyusu and three Arita yunomi.
In addition to the gaiwan set I got from TeaSpring a week or so ago, I think I'm off to a great start for my teaware collection.
Yeah, got me hooked!!!Janine wrote:Where else could I find photos of hagi ware so lovingly displayed? So beautiful!
Tough call between discussion and fellowship. I have not voted yet since I cannot make up my mind. They tie nicely together here. But ultimately, it is all of the above I think to varying degrees.
Began the day with Chiran Supreme from O-Cha which was excellent as always. SweeTea enjoyed it as much as me. Pyrit was joined by Lil Bit, Wulong. TEAh, and Gandalf.

I did get the kenji, and just used it for the first time. I'm very happy with it. I'm all smiles this morning.Chip wrote:Did you get the Kenji? I hope to see photos of your wares!![]()

Question, as I've been curious and never thought to ask, who/what are "Pyrit, Lil Bit, Wulong, TEAh, and Gandalf" ?
This may have been addressed before, but I haven't seen it....
EDIT: nevermind, found it, they're your cats
A sample of Lapsang Souchong from The Tea Gallery in my cup this afternoon.
Surprisingly quite nice.

That Kenji is a sweet kyusu, certainly a favorite! What was in the first brewing? Which yunomi did you get?GT500Driver wrote:I did get the kenji, and just used it for the first time. I'm very happy with it. I'm all smiles this morning.![]()

There are always Geisha and Samurai cats at the tea table, seems I need a much bigger TeaTable!
Just finished Matcha dribs and drabs that proved to be not as good as the different matcha-s on their own.
blah blah blah SENCHA blah blah blah!!!

My first brew was some Sencha Overture, which turned out great. Steeped it four times actually... the first three were good, fourth a bit light for my taste. I enjoyed it a lot more than last time I made sencha, I believe I'm of the persuasion that good teaware can make better tea.Chip wrote:That Kenji is a sweet kyusu, certainly a favorite! If you go to the outlet section of the site, the two that say "sold" are two of the three I bought, third is the Arita Horse Yunomi. I used the Kyoto yunomi for the sencha, and the size paired perfectly with the kyusu. I really like the feel of it as well.
About to try some adagio gyokuro for the first time. Not just first time with adagio's, but first time period. Wish me luck!
I voted Tea Fellowship... because to me, that's sort of the same as voting "all of the above". Good fellowship includes giving and receiving advice, passing on new information about vendors and products, showing off your new acquisitions, and sharing the love of tea with people who "get it". No one else in my world gets it! So I'm glad you guys are here.
I had some nice Hojicha from Den's this mid-morning... and some Black Dragon Pearls from Teavana earlier this morning... and now, some iced Twilight-Edward's Thirst, yummmy... and thinking about some Sakura Sencha soon.

***This organic blend is earthy & spicy, with a fragrant aroma & smooth flavor to captivate the senses. Naturally sweetened in the Kentucky sunshine & infused with natural energy. Equally delicious when served piping hot or crisply chilled.***
Hi Sal. I've been gone all day and just saw your post. Let me get some tea and then I'll tell you about the Beidou.Salsero wrote:I have been curious about this tea lately and thinking of getting some. Is there anything more you could say about it?brlarson wrote: Teaspring's Beidou No 1 in my cup this morning. This tea is really growing on me.

My vote is also for fellowship. This is a nice community. Generally very friendly. Also, I like the pretty pretty pictures.
Today, I tried koicha for the first time. Maybe I am now hallucinating. Ha!

That's a small Seigan chawan. Good stuff.
Now my hubby is asking for chai. I have a feeling I won't sleep until next Tuesday.

By all means. Did you use the Ippodo directions that Olivierco referenced somewhere recently? I am thinking of trying my first Koicha this weekend ... using the Horai-no-mukashi I just got.Chip wrote: Tell us more, please!!!
