I put 10 grams of each green in the mail today for those who have signed up so far. No point in wasting time with the green stuff. I put it in sandwich bags (gulp) hoping the bags do not affect the taste of these greens.
There's also 10 grams of Puttabong (Tukvar) sftgfop Dj-7, a first flush Darjeeling.
There is still tea remaining, so if anyone else wants to join in, let me know.
BREWING: VENDOR SUGGESTION:
Daniel Ong seems pretty devoted to his style of brewing greens and reiterated the basic story for me in an email, though on his site he says 150 gr, I guess that indicates the laid back attitude one ought to have with these things.
I was happy when I brewed the Guo Bin Li Cha Mao Feng pretty much that way: 2.5 g in 6 oz mug, 160° F, 1 m, 90 s, 2 m, 3 m, 5 m, 7 m. The final infusion was pretty much sweet water. It did taste good.
BREWING: OTHER METHODS:
In the past, I have used 50% more leaf than that.
Gingko recently suggested a radically different set of parameters using hotter water for green.
Some time ago, Proinsias introduced us to his gong-fu-like style taught to him many moons ago by a mysterious Chinese lady, which I have interpreted as something like 7.00 g in 100 ml gaiwan, 140°-160° F, 4 s, 4 s, 4 s, 4 s, 4 s, 8 s, 10 s, and many more increasingly longer infusions.
And then there's plain old glass brewing, which is pretty much the same as Daniel's suggestions but starting out with water that is 150° or less and never removing the leaves, just adding more water.

- The brewing parameters were meant for glass brewing. Experts believe only glass can bring out
true green tea flavor. Gaiwan style is somehow only suitable for certain green teas and it also requires twice
the amount of tea leaves compared to glass brewing. Just use around 2 grams for 200ml glass. As long as
the water temperature is right, you can just leave the tea leaves in the glass (no need to filter).

Once again, in the Two Bazaar to Belief Catergory, Proinsias (who seems always to be approaching the Twilight Zone in TeaChat matters) has re- re-iterated his gong fu green or "jugs" technique, immediately subsequent to my re-iterating it above, leading me once again to wildly speculate about the mysterious femme asiatique that first led him down this path.
Speaking of mysterious women, I was unable to get the addresses for either Kathy or Amy. I hope they are having a good time even if it doesn't involve green tea ... or even Puttabong.
Well that is sad news. I was thinking of ordering but the min order is kinda high and I have been reading the doomsday report on that FF Darjeeling thread. I'm now in email contact with said mysterious woman, she is somewhere in Malaysia atm I think. I'll see if I can annoy her into getting some long jing for a tasting session as I've never met anyone so taken with one strain of tea, apart from maybe Chip and his sencha, if I recall correctly her shop sold 12 grades of long jing and 8 grades of da fou long jing, or something.
I almost linked to your post earlier about the brewing of green tea until I remembered that it was in our secret den, so I decided to make it look like I had a great memory instead.
