This is true - and that's really funny, because a kyusu I ordered I thought it was a dark green color was actually dark brown.

I put in a request for one that was about 15 oz thinking that I could make a nice 10 to 12 oz cup of sencha in it. Seeing that you said the size was approximate should I go for one that is specified to be slightly larger? I wouldn't mind getting a larger one and a smaller one for preparing shots of gyokuro.

when they reply you can certainly ask for more detail or other questions..i did and did receive responses fairly timely given our days are way off to over there. remember shipping isnt *that* cheap either so keep that in mind when you are reaching your ceiling prices..they will quote you on that too tho.
I have enjoyed mine anyway. oh..and when i got the quote i asked for a higher detailed picture which they sent along before i confirmed my order and it represented the pot spot on. they do have a lot of nice smaller pots dont they.. i looked on there for hours before picking one..which actually..is my icon over there!

I kind of figured the shipping wouldn't be too cheap but that's ok. I looked for quite a long time myself and I remember seeing the one you have in your icon. It's nice I like it. =)

That sounds like a good idea or maybe he will check the actual capacities.

I know this is a little off topic but I didn't want to start a new topic. What are your opinions on Kyusus like this without the metal strainer?

I was thinking about buying this one but rather than buying it on impulse I thought I'd run it by the tea sages.

I have a smaller (about 5 oz) porcelain kyusu with this type of strainer (purchased off ebay for very little $, I got really lucky!). I don't use it for sencha, but it is great for oolong...better than toasting my fingers with a gaiwan.
The pot you'relooking at is big and beautiful...you could use this for pretty much anything that you want to brew lots of.
Oh, isn't shopping fun!

Yes, it is fun and luckily I have some help so I don't make misguided decisions. =)
Yeah, the holes seem quite large. Japanese greens are my fav, but I'm thinking of getting this for some oolongs and maybe some blacks if I'm feeling frisky.

In got one similar to that for my daughter and it would be ok for larger whole leaf stuff like dreamer said but for most of the japanese teas i think youd get a whole lot more particles thru. even more so on that then a lot of the nice higher end clay sesame filters on some of the tokonames. The holes in that one are bigger.
