I think an average of 4... more or less depending on the tea. On some of my darjeelings, they are growing weak by the 4th, but make nice SLT for the end of the day.
Darjeeling Puttabong SFTGFOP 2009 FF from Tea Emporium... mmmm delish. I will definitely be ordering more.

5 steeps on average for me. About the only tea I do at least attempt to capture every last bit of goodness is black which for some reason I am ready to move on after one or two steeps. I have a Puttabong Darjeeling 2009 FF sample from Sal that could change that.
Began the teaday with an excellent 6 steeps of Yabe from Yuuki-Cha. SweeTea was there to the last drop. Pyrit, Wulong and the Lil Bit made a showing at the TeaTable.
Currently, the Purepuerh "old shu" from all day yesterday. It could be just now reaching its best steeps, pretty good shu.

My answer? As many as possible!!
I love steeps and steeping, the more the better. It is a quality of the tea I seek avidly. I will drink and buy a good tasting tea that doesn't get a lot of steeps, but for me richness or steeping quality ranks pretty high up there. I don't consider it a really good tea unless it's got enough body to it where it goes a few rounds. Part of the complexity factor.
Today: Gift Grade Keemun Organic from Cha Ma Gou Dao in Montclair, NJ
Costly, but I do like the taste a lot. I splurged

Sadly I had to answer two here. As always, just a time thing. It is rare that I get the chance to do more than two steeps so I usually use a pot that brews 16 - 20 oz...) On weekends or if it looks like a slow-ish day I grab an oolong and try to get 5 or 6 in a yixing...
No tea yet today. Ugh. And it is much needed. I think I'm due for something bracing like Irish Breakfast.

My average is probably around 5.
In my cup this morning a Teahome sachet tea, not bad for on the run.
I think this was Oriental Beauty - not sure they are all in Chinese.
Have a nice day everyone!

I think my average is about 4. It bobs up and down depending on the oolong quotient.
Actually I try to get more than one steep out of virtually every tea - except matcha
Currently drinking some Yang Yan Gou Qing which is not giving me as much resteep joy as I would like. But possibly I was a little too light on the leaf!
