ooooh! I thought of something else I'm craving...
About 6 months back on ebay somebody was selling a pair (meteo-yunomi?) of rough, sand colored stoneware yunomi. They each had a red crab carved into the side. I do not mean embossed, I mean, the crabs were coming out of a "cave" in the side of the cup. They were SUPER COOL!!!
I'm pretty sure somebody on here bought them, and I'm glad, but I'm still sorry I didn't bid. LOL!

ETSY is great.. and while i do love the japanese pottery/ teaware its always nice to support someone "local" too!GeekgirlUnveiled wrote:Have you searched Etsy? Some beautiful things there, likely something would fit your description.iannon wrote:i want one in the 10 to 12 oz range for some of my daily drinks.
I think im getting one custom made...
hi olivierco, those are lovely canisters. do you have the link for them?olivierco wrote:I sure have some teaware on my buying list (a kuro raku chawan, a nice chashaku, some yunomi, a nodate, some kobukusa, a tray...) but what I would really like to have are those canisters.
Kaboku sencha this morning.
im pretty new into tea so just started building my teaware collection. i have a endless wishlist but trying to built the basics like a good tetsubin, a kyusu with good grip(got a porcelain one that slipped my hands and broke), few matcha bowls and so on.
one of my top wanted items is a chabako so i can have matcha at work:http://www.rikyucha.com/item/list3/10711/
right now waiting for my car to be serviced and drinking some green tea bubble tea from the vietnamese across the street.

The canisters are from gyokusendo and they cost from 25000 to 50000Y (250 to 500$) with the spoon, shipping costs not included of course.fmoreira272 wrote:

They have other nice items

Concerning having matcha at work or when traveling, I wouldn't use my chabako. A nodate would be more convenient.

This one is somewhat expensive but you can find some cheaper I guess (Chamekke ordered one recently)

Otsuusan sencha this afternoon and Kanro gyokuro right now.

Nodate sets are great. The natsume-s in these sets often have an inner plastic lid to keep the matcha fresh and unspilled during transit - something you don't see on other natsume-s. I agree that it's more suited for making matcha on the go than a chabako set would be.
I actually have a cheapo nodate "part-set" picked up on eBay UK many years ago. It's not hard to assemble your own. There's an eBay seller (I can look up the name if anyone wants) who sells some of the bamboo items.
Also, geekgirl - the "crab in the recess of a cup" motif is a fairly popular design IIRC. In fact I actually have a pair of sake cups, each with one little recessed crab. Very nice for summer (it's a summer motif). So I will keep my eyes open...

I voted maybe. There's nothing I particularly want right now, except for more tea ware in general. Right now, I only have 1 gaiwan, and after it arrives in the mail, a small teapot. The problem is, I like to vary up every few cups, which means I can't get that many steeps out of tea before I have to discard it to make room for a new one.
Then again, I could go for a nice kyusu
Enjoying some gunpowder with a pinch of jasmine and spearmint. Friggin Delicious!
