I think Japanese greens taste different in my unglazed kyusu. But maybe it's just in my head.

With everything else, I haven't noticed that much difference.

Shincha this morning!!! Uji Kirameki from O-Cha.

That's what i say. I just don't have the cash to buy a pot for every single thing I brew. Cool cup, Salsero. Almost looks like Fostoria American pattern, but it's not glassware.

I am home with an unhappy little boy with ouchie ears today. Trying to get him to drink a little tea.

I only have two brewing vessels right now, and I've only had the one for two or so weeks, so I can't really testify to any differences. I do find that with my gaiwan, I end up with less leaf spilling into the tea. That is certainly nice :)

Vessel

I brew my four cups in the morning in a french press and pour when it is ready into a pyrex or a mason jar. I must admit when the tea sits it does tend to stain the glass a bit. Also I have a strange aversion to microwaving the water. I just see it as too untraditional for my tastes.

Well, let's start off by defining "favorite tea" :D This notion changes from day to day (and sometimes during the day) for me.

But overall, to me the brewing vessel is very important: I've only done side-by-side tastings on a couple of occassions, but the difference was notable. Besides, this gives me an opportunity to use my fave teaware (whcih changes with the tea!)

Drinking a custom blend from tealeaves: keemun black with rose petals and some oolong.

Not too important, I swap between teapots quite a bit in all kinds of styles so I don't need to stick with a fav.

This morning some jade oolong from mighty leaf. Finishing up a sample.

I just had 6 infusions of yang yan gou qing from generosity of Sal :D It has the sweet and clear taste of high mountain spring mist! For this tea (and many other green teas) I would say the glass cup/mug is very important to me, because I've got to see the extended tea leaves in hot water, and their tiny silver tips! A gaiwan would be great too since it allows me to peep inside.

It is somewhat important but I can brew any tea (save matcha of course) in a gaiwan or a houhin.

Importance is tea-variety dependent.

by Intuit » May 5th, '09, 13:29

Unless you're specialized in teas that require careful extraction under explicit conditions (eg, Japanese greens), it "ain't necessarily so (important).

Half the fun is working variety into tea making with tea and vessel assortment at hand - within reason of course, employing general rules of thumb.

Scots Breakfast this morning. Keemun in a bit.

I went with maybe - it depends on the what my favorite tea at the time is and what pots I have to choose from. Does it make a difference between my glass and my porcelain? No. But it does make a difference glass vs. yixing. Just depends on what my pot choices are for the tea.

Wedding cake tea in a glass pot this morning. :)

Ready to go home for the day. I'm done with being at work! Booo!

Ha! Quite the decision for me... I get to choose from all of Chip's pots!

Seriously, I am very new to brewing since DH brews the tea for us and TBH, most times I am not allowed to touch the TEAWARE :!: :!: JK

It very often is a hard decision for me to 'pick the right pot', as I am learning which pots he prefers to use for what tea.

Auggy, I just love your pink monkey avi, especially the crown, or is it a bow.

Just shared some LJ w/DH!

Pentox, I don't even think a wide-angle lens would work.

And besides, he's currently keeping you guys in the dark with just
how many he owns.

Thanks! That's chi chai mon-chan and he's wearing a banana. She? I'm not sure. The pink goes for "she" but honestly, the banana on the head indicates "he".

OOPS, shows my ignorance and how poor my eyesight is :!:
Sure appears to be a she to me, but then I didn't even know it was a banana, ha!
