Would it be that I am too late to ask for inclusion in your offer Cory?
I am also quite the matcha virgin myself. I've been strongly contemplating getting into it, but this would definitely be enough to make my decision!
Looks like you have met your quota though. Either way, kudos to you for such a generosity!

We were fated to pretend.

mail from the islands to Portland is FAST. My chawan arrived today. I received a fantastic bowl, sized perfectly for my small hands, and he must also have taken a look through my photos, because this bowl doesn't duplicate anything I have, even remotely. (Although he couldn't know I have been on the hunt for something like it.
) It's somewhat of a winter style, being 3.5" tall, by 4.5" wide - a very nice size.
Oh, but why, Cory, must you torture me so???!!! This bowl glazed with an amazing black (what I guess is) tenmoku, ALL black, no browns, with great silvering coming through (iron?) The feel in the hands is fantastic. Now why can't I capture it's true look on camera?
Of course, I couldn't resist mixing up some matcha, even though it was nearly 4pm, and I will probably be awake half the night. Ha!
Pictures below, the first is as close as I could get to the true appearance without resorting to a softbox, which I don't have anyways. The second is more interpretive. The third shows the serendipitous little keshiki that created a tiny blue highlight on the face. The fourth is what was left after imbibing.

OOhh photo #2 is very deep. I guess this only hints at the luster?
Cory..... another gem...what else to say in words?

“Take some more tea,” the March Hare said to Alice, very earnestly.
“I’ve had nothing yet,” Alice replied in an offended tone: “so I ca’n’t take more.”
“You mean you ca’n’t take less,” said the Hatter: “it’s very easy to take more than nothing.”
