Just to make him Jealous, I should say that both the tea room I go to in Houston [http://www.thepathoftea.com] and the one I go to in Austin [http://thesteepingroom.com] have a Shincha. The Houston one has a Kagoshima fuka/chumushi and the Austin one has Honyama Asamushi –the best Shincha I've had so far.
Shh! You're gonna ruin it for me - I might get my hopes up too highedkrueger wrote:[ the Austin one has Honyama Asamushi –the best Shincha I've had so far.

I need a bouncy icon with which to express my impatience in waiting for tomorrow morning. Gonna have breakfast before I go so I don't have to order another cookie plate and intefere with my tea experience

Mostly at my TeaTable - I am comfortable with my set up.
I'm not a much of a social butterfly, I prefer being home.
But I'm sure I'd be checking it out occasionally.
Still trying to wake up with my morning tea of Foshou Hon Cha from my
new vendor in the UK. It's a very nice black.
The hype: "This luscious back tea with all the complexity of the island's finest high mountain oolong is grown on the Buddha's hand varietal of tea bush. A rare treat for black tea connoisseurs."

Yeah, what b said! I don't even order iced tea anymore when we go out to eat, because it is $2 for day-old cloudy tea and I can do soooo much better at home!bsteele wrote:Mostly at home. I'd rather pay $.10-$.45 per tea session than $4+
I suppose if there was a good place close, I would go...I would find a great tea or two there and meet friends...I would go to have company while enjoying tea!!!
Right now I've got a real tea-buzz going!!
In about two and a half hours I've had a 12-oz first steep and a 12-oz 2nd steep of Ceylon Vithanakande (614 from specialteas). This was already a favorite and I had ordered some in my Mother's Day order. I shared a pot with DH in the sweet sunshine on the deck...my joy!!! Then I wanted to try the Nilgiri Glendale (1508 from teasource)...so I've had a 6-oz 1st and 2nd steep of that.
I am loving this Nilgiri... for a black it brews up such a light amber color...I especially notice that since the Vithanakande brews up so beautifully dark and red. The Nilgiri is so smooth and nice. I can't adequately describe tea flavors (sorry), but I really like this tea. I will be ordering again!
I am really buzzing...you should see me trying to type...I am typing so fast and making so many mistakes that I am wearing out my backspace key!!!
It has been a great tea day so far!
Have fun,
Dreamer
Always at home.
There's nowhere near where I am with a good tearoom. A lot of them, even the ones with a good teashop, have terribly trained employees and make the teas all wrong.
Teaopia's matcha pinnacle (which I bought and enjoyed very much in the comfort of my own home) was sold at 6 dollars per 1.5 chashaku of matcha, and after the barista made usucha out of it fairly properly, she dumped the liquid in a paper cup and put it under a water dispenser, and poured 10oz of boiling water over it. OH THE HORROR!
It tasted terrible, to say the least.
I never want to go through that again. =_=
Slightly overbrewed assam in my cup for now~

About half and half. I'd take my laptop there and do some good writing, unfettered by distractions. The reason I don't hang out at Starbucks more is I don't really like their tea. The reason I'd only hang out there half the time is that I'm busy with college and stuff, but in the summers I'd probably be there almost exclusively. The price would probably be worth it for the atmosphere.
Today's cup was Scorpio blend for the morning, and Stash Decaf Vanilla Chai for the evening.

+1 I would occasionally go to the tearoom but the price would keep me away most of the time. Now if price were no option I would live there on one condition that I can brew my own tea.spot52 wrote:I am a too cheap to pay the higher price to drink at their tables.
Monk blend and white peony this morning. This white peony just wont loose its flavor

I do not like the idea of an internet cafe serving authentic tea.
The tea is your entertainment. It is also your centerpiece among great conversation with friends... or your centerpiece among your own thoughts.
A tea house is way more sepcial than an internet cafe.
Edit: After rereading your poll, I'm not entirely sure what you are referring to. But let me just say this... I love authentic tea rooms. I think they are absolutely amazing. There are, for what I consider an authentic Asian style tea room, very very few around.
But I think on occasion that they are amazing places to enjoy tea.

Golfing in a tournament- I was on the winning ladies team however we got nothing! So in response I say - go Rachel Alexandra!!!!!!!!!!!!Chip wrote: Where is everyone today?
Adagio Darjeeling #2 this am before leaving for golf.
I voted half and half for the internet cafe- mostly because I envisioned it as Teaism which I love but is too far away- if it was very close by esp to my home I would be there well, half of my tea time

I'd say I'd be mostly at my own tea table. Part of the whole tea enjoyment is brewing the tea yourself with all the quirky teaware. And most of the time I need peace and quiet when I drink my tea. But having a nice night at a hip little tearoom with friends sounds like something I could do once a week. A good alternative to bar hopping and getting sloshed.
Trying the YM shincha for the first time. On to the 3rd steep. With a side of pocky. Mmm.
