For me it differs. I try to have tea first thing in the morning, but some days my first cup is in the middle of the day. All depends on what I am doing said day. But in the weekends turning on the kettle is my first action of the day.
Drinking some western brewed Shu, in an infuser basket. I have been doing this quite a lot lately, and it's great if you want a lot of tea but don't have the the time to gong fu. Like when your writing essays, or studying for exams..
Me too. I walk downstairs and heat the water, weigh the leaf, set up and then pre-heat the pot and a cup (and maybe a thermos), steep and drink. If I have to drive to work then I make a second pot immediately to last the morning. I am sipping oolong seven or eight minutes after I open my eyes.
Jing's everyday Da Hong Pao again. I think 7grams in 16oz at 200-205F for 2 1/2 minutes is about right. This is light. I haven't found the fruit yet, but it has pleasant charcoal-y, slightly roasty flavors on the front on the tongue.

On weekdays, I have my Zoji set to have the water at the right temperature by the time I get out of the shower. After getting everything else ready to go, I make enough tea to fill one travel mug and one thermos to bring with me to work. Breakfast is generally yogurt with granola and juice while the tea is steeping. Factoring in the half hour commute where the tea in the travel mug is still too hot to drink, it takes roughly two hours from waking up to actually having some tea. On weekends, I get distracted more easily so sometimes it takes a little longer, though on good days, it is less.
Currently in my cup is the the last of my Ali Shan sample from Adagio.

Within an hour for me. I set my Zoji so that the water is ready when I wake up, but have to shower, etc. first. Then while I'm making breakfast for myself and my daughter, I also make my first cup of tea. The weekends are less structured so it could be anywhere from 1/2 hour to a couple of hours after waking that I have any tea.

What a dear question...I hate getting up early, but love the morning. I love the little rituals that get the day started and it is so dear that you all will share that!
On non-summer weekdays, my alarm goes off at 5:39, I do the whole shower and dress dealio and head downstairs to make some breakfast for myself and my teenage son. Before anything else is started, before the dogs are let out, before I even have decided what to make for breakfast, I start the water for the tea. I'm usually sipping before the breakfast is ready at about 6:30. Between myself, my son and my DH, we usually drink up the first pot. I make a 2nd steep to fill my travel mug and pour the rest into a pitcher for iced tea later. I usually make a 3rd steep and add that to the pitcher for iced tea too.
Summer weekdays are a different thing...still up at 5:39, but walk for 45 minutes or so, then shower, then tea/breakfast.
Weekends...no set schedule drives my weekend mornings so I have tea whenever.
Happy mornings,
Dreamer

Happy Sun'Tea'Day everyone. For me it is less than 30 minutes. I have the virtually the same routine every morn. I am CatWoman first as I make sure all the needs of our cats are met, while Chip is Teamaan! It works for us!
Very late evening last night, so it is a very late start to our TeaDay.
Delightful tea in my cup late morn from Den's [I'll let DH tell about it in his post]and now moving on to a late brunch prepared by, yup...Chip! Yeah, it doesn't get any better than this.
Finally it is not raining here, however I believe afternoon thunderstorms are on the weather menu. Have a fun TeaDay everyone!

I almost always have tea within 30 minutes of waking. My Zoji is always refilled the night before and ready to go... and I head straight for some tea before hopping in the shower, and more when I get out. Occasionally I have left-over tea from the night before... have this habit of falling asleep while reading, with a big mug of tea on my nightstand. I've been known to pop it into the microwave if it was a really good tea I coudn't stand to pour down the drain. I never reheat greens, they always get bitter, so I pour leftover greens over ice.
I was craving something black this morning, after swimming in shincha and FF Darjeeling for the last couple of weeks. I have some nice Darjeeling #22 in my cup... and sort of wishing I had some Golden Spring... but I'm out of most all my black teas.
The oolong box will be here in a day or two, and that will be a welcome change of pace for a few days!
Happy Tea Day,
Sarah
