With less preferred teas I'm a lot more sensing: I always wonder if it's lack of my brewing skill that makes me like the tea less

I mis-read the question yesterday, I thought it was about all the teas I drink.
Had some Yunnan at home this morning and at work am on my second cup of Nilgiri.
For my familiar teas, I am more intuitive. For new or less-familiar, definitely sensing.

Yes it is my favorite tea so there isn't any problem for me to drink exclusively gyokuro for a few days.

+1 olivierco! It's my favorite too!
I am happy that you are healing and hope that you are not in too much pain, possible just physically sore in a lot of areas. I'm sure your gyo will keep you in good spirits! Hope your recovery is speedy.

This afternoon in my cup is a new '09 AliShan from Hou De. It is very good, but not knocking my socks off. It is a pale yellow, not the normal sparkling bright lemon color. But as I said, it's good. My first of the 2009 crop.

Ouch! Quick healing, olivierco! And not just so you can drink shincha!

I tend to make things up as I go along, mostly intuitive, but basing some parameters on what worked well for similar teas. Other times, I just wing it. My cooking skills follow the exact same method. I enjoy the challenge of trying to make things taste good without following the guidelines too strictly.
I've been drinking iced tea all afternoon and evening due to the sudden spike in temperature. I am severely disappointed because I wanted to try out my new tea cup, but it is too warm and too late for hot tea. Hopefully I can give it a test run tomorrow.

Hi All,
Didn't get to spend much time hear yesterday...saw good news early on Tuesday (finishing school, finally some substantial rain in W. FL, Bubba came home, vacation and strawberry cake)...today I am caught up with the sad news...Cinnamon Kitty's kitty Cinnamon has gone and Olivier has had a major boo-boo. CK I am so sorry that you lost your sweet kitty...I'm glad that you let the teachatters know so we could send you some cyber ((((((hugs))))))). Olivier is it good to hear that you're recovering...I'm guessing that you and your dentist will be spending some quality time together! I like my dentist...wouldn't mind having tea with him, but there's always all that drilling going on!
My brewing is pretty heavy on the sensing...I want it to be intuitive, but I tend to rely a lot on my timer. I have recently acquired a scale, but I'm trying to stay away from it. I used it every once in a while to just see how much (weight) tea I've been using (I measure with a teaspoon). I tend not to use a thermometer either (maybe if I had a really fast digital model...mine is "instant", but too slow for me). Even when it looks like I'm being intuitive, it is only because I've measured before and I know how to repeat without the measure!
Tea today: Vithanakande in my cup at breakfast and in my travel mug...mmmm this is a favorite. This afternoon I had to have a bowl of matcha before dashing off to the dentist (endodontist) for a root canal. I've decided that a bowl of matcha before any less-than-pleasant event is "just the thing"!
Take care, all,
Dreamer

Olivier, sorry to hear about your bike wreck. I hope you are feeling better and are on the mend.
Didn't Chip have a bike accident a while back? Maybe TeaChatters and two-wheeled vehicles don't mix!
