Tuesday TeaDay 5/26/09 TeaJourney inspiration?

BYOT! Enter TeaChat here, you never know what you may find!

Aphrodite was wondering if folks feel like their own tea journeys are often inspired by those of others (like seeing people talk about something and wanting to try it) or if they tend to march to their own kettle of fish?

I chose "Other," because while I've certainly learned a thing or two about brewing from others, when choosing teas I just follow my tastebuds. I listen, learn, then do what I like. Anyway, my brain is a little fried as the end of my semester approaches.

Think I'll go kickstart myself with some Tencha-Kuki Houjicha, if the cat ever lets me stand up...

Nice photo Sal. I have that too as you know.

I was largely on my own for many years, did not really use the internet for info, etc. I largely like to learn on my own at my own pace it seems. But TeaChat and The Green Tea Forum members helped me make the tea world a much smaller place, not sure how long it would have taken me to place my first international tea order otherwise. Trying to think if there is one individual who sticks out, but I think it is more of a collective thing.

Began TD with Houryoku shincha from Den's along with SweeTea, Gandalf, Katie,
Lili, Pyrit, TEAh, and Wulong. It was a very active TeaTable today.

Hibiki-an's Genmaicha Matcha-iri in my cup and inspriation on my mind.

It's been a difficult enough morning, without having to try to figure out how to pronounce a typo every time I come here. Is there some way to fix it before it drives me nutz and bonkers at the same time?

Hey, does anyone know what "iri" means ... I mean besides being one of the Great Lakes.

Pretty flowers, Herb_Master. Wow.

OK, I'm inspired. Now could you share the recipe? I'd like to give it a try.

1 1/2 (heavy) tablespoons sae midori
1 20-ounce bottled water

leave in fridge overnight, strain and enjoy. also rec to add honey as a preservative but i don't do honey so i left that out.

made at 7am mon, leaves strained out at 1:30 am (i forgot to do it before i went to bed), enjoyed at lunch on tues :) YUM!!

i found this recipe somewhere on these boards and adapted it to a leftover water bottle. i had a half finished dasani that i topped off with some of my filtered water.

My tea journey has definately been ispired by others - I had no idea how much there is to learn and investigate about tea that is really quite available -

Thanks!!!!

( Oh yeah - I just made Sencha Primier , a little for now and a water bottle full for work, this afternoon)

This sounds like a TD theme day, every post has to have a typo. Might push Sal over the edge though ...

By all means feel free to PM me when I post a highly visible and disturbing typo. I don't want to harm anybody's mental health!

Kirameki shincha from O-Cha is currently in my cup!
blah blah blah SENCHA blah blah blah!!!

Over 18 hours and it wasn't harsh and disgusting? Wow! I'll have to get on that project right away.

I've been halfway to the edge for so long now, maybe it would be best to just go all the way and get it over with!

In my cup this morning was Sungma Organic Darjeeling.
Very nice.

I was drinking oolong before I came to this board, but I definitely have been inspired to try others by being here. Still, I mostly follow my own path. I know what I like and I follow my instincts.

Have a nice day everyone!

I'm heavily influenced by the visual, so the lovely photos, video clips of gongfu, and other views of tea and tea tradition have definitely impacted my tea journey. Naturally, taste plays the largest part in which teas I continue drinking, but yeah, I chose the first option. :)

well, like i said, i meant to do it originally around 3 to take to the block party and then was going to do it while i made dinner around 6 so it was steeping a lot longer than the overnight (8 hours) that the directions had rec. by a huge amount when i got to it at 2 in the am. its is strong but very good- i think that sae midori had a nautral sweet smoothnes that made this long steep drinkable although i won't go that long on purpose!!

I have definitely been influenced by others here on TeaChat. If not for TC I would not have tried Nilgiri teas, (re)tried greens or much of anything else.

I had some Irish Breakfast this morning but had a bit of an upset stomach. The rest of the day has been tea-free so far, just because I'm trying to catch up from the holiday.

Lovely flowers, herb_master! I especially like the Nora Barlow Columbine!

Salsero, I love the texture in your photo today!
