Perhaps.

In my cup this morning: Six Summits Oolong from Teavana.

I think the effects I felt were more from cutting my coffee consumption back to almost nothing, than from the tea itself. I'm not sure that I feel any pronounced physiological effects, but psychologically, it can at times be restful and meditative.

Yes, I believe so - Depending on the tea. With some teas the effect is suble, with others I have felt a profound effect, such as with puerh.

In my moring cup, my usual start of the day a FF Darjeeling. Now moving on to a 2009 Spring Oolong from Cameilla Sinensis.

As with anything ingested, there will be some sort of effect on the body. Whether or not it is enough of an effect to be felt is another question.

I myself get a sense of calmness and peace when enjoying a nice cup.

This may be a physiological effect of the tea...

Or it may just be that I am allowing my mind to let go of all the rubbish and focus solely on the tea.

Whatever it is... It works for me :D

What I DO know is that I do not get the same experience with coffee...

I am not sure if it's some component. But when I feel cold, or in colder months, I am very much drawn to fermented, roasted tea, which makes me feel very warm. Currently I don't fee that much need of warmth and drink a lot more green tea than during winter months.

Nice photo Sal. I received a lot of Darjeeling FF samples from the "A" team, Darjeeling leaves always wow me!

I definitely feel effects of tea components, often within minutes of first sip. It is a very pleasing and calming feeling. Caffeine seems to kick in a bit later. I really enjoy the overall effect of tea on mind and body.

Began the TeaDay with Kunpu 88 Nights shincha from Den's, very delicious! The leaves are lovely needles. SweeTea was impressed, while Pyrit, Wulong, TEAh, Lil Bit and Gandalf all paid their respects to this fine sencha.

Currently sipping the remarkable Sungma FF Darjeeling from yesterday, wow, still sooo good.

This just arrived, part of a special HAGI offering to TeaChatters. Yamane Seigan Guinomi, SeaCucumber Glaze, beautiful!!! Another Hagi exclusive and special offering is in the works, keep your eyes on the TeaWare forum!

I think most definitely... some of the effects are physical/chemical, and some are psychological. In any event, my morning teas almost always energize me, and my mid-day and particularly late afternoon teas soothe and relax me.

My dad's macular degeneration is flaring today... he's previously lost probably 90% of his vision in one eye already, and we've been working hard to preserve the good eye... but he periodically gets retinal hemorrhages that have to be treated with steroid injections into his eye. It's worked well in the past... but we have a big hemorrhage going now, and he can hardly see at all... and his doc who injects the eye was out of the office today, so we can't go until tomorrow. Time is rather crucial on this treatment, so I am very stressed about the delay... it's been a heavy tea day. I've been worried about him not being able to drive... but now he can't really see the T.V. or the computer screen either... so I am pretty heart-sick.

On a lighter note, the distortion in his vision has made my mother appear very tall and skinny to him... and I think she rather likes this. :D

Lets be grateful for our eyesight today...

Sarah

I definitely feel effects from tea...similar to chocolate, it makes me feel relaxed and content. :) Also it can cure minor ailments like congestion, bloating, water retention and stuff...

I've been drinking 2nd Flush Margaret's Hope Darjeeling today ^^

Yes, I believe that I do feel the effect of tea's caffeine very quickly. It's not like a sudden buzz that hits all at once but an all-over calming effect and sense of well-being.

I mostly drank Nilgiri Glendale today, and some iced Darjeeling / Assam (I'm trying to use up some little bits of leaf!)

There are definitely effects depending on the tea. Shincha makes me want to fly in a good way without the awful crash that other sources of caffeine give me. Other teas have a more mild energy burst, or can be calming, soothing, and relaxing. Tisanes tend to have even more of an affect for me, like chamomile and lavender for relaxation and helping me fall asleep or rooibos to calm my allergies a bit.

Currently my mug holds ginger root tisane with a bit of honey. It works very well to soothe an upset stomach.

Now just soggy leaf tea.

Most definitely!!!

Tea makes me feel so "cared for" and always brings feelings of gratitude...even if I'm drinking in a rush from my travel mug.

And matcha...oh, yeah! I commented on here recently that I've decided a nice bowl of matcha before any less-than-pleasant activity (like a root canal) is "just the thing". Matcha just makes every good thing seem so possible!

Started the day with Nilgiri Glendale....love this tea!
This afternoon I sneaked in a bowl of matcha before taking off for some errand running and a movie.
Now tonight I'm working on a 3rd steep of this Nilgiri (I stuck the pot/leaf in the frig this morning after the 2nd steep). It doesn't have a lot of flavor left (hopefully, not much caffeine, either), but it does have such a smooth sweet mouth feel.

Tea effects...oh yeah!!!
