In my cup this morning - 2009 FF Lingia Estate Darjeeling.
I really ended up liking this one more than I initially thought.
Very tender and sweet with a mild astringency kick. I might
have to repurchase.
Have a nice day everyone!

Lapsang ... I tried it 10 years ago when I was trying anything and everything ... hated it. I recently tried some samples from several members and was impressed to a point.
I tend to agree with Geeber, it seems more condusive to cooler weather tea times. I cannot imagine whipping up one of these samples now, after all, there is sooo much first flush/new harvest tea to enjoy.
Began the TD with Yutaka Midori from O-Cha in a new Yamane Seigan Sea Cucumber glaze Yunomi. SweeTea wanted a fair share while TEAh, Pyrit, Wulong, and Gandalf stopped by the TeaTable to check things out ...

Lapsang Souchong is not my favorite tea--I've only tried it a couple of times (a long time ago I got a sample), but found it too strong and smoky for me.
Drinking ItoEn's bottled green tea today (what's world come to?)-I've been out in DC for work for the last three weeks, and can't wat to get back home to my tea stash...

Lapsang Souchong is my all-time favorite black tea for winter, brewed lightly and drunk plain. The smoke is powerful comfort--like a wood fire in a cup. I'll take whatever I can get--Twinings in bags if I can't get anything better
I brewed a pot of Hu Kwa at work once, and my co-worker thought something was burning under my desk!
Dragon Well and Jasmine Pearl again today.

Hmm. Would it be at all interesting as an iced tea?Chip wrote:I tend to agree with Geeber, it seems more condusive to cooler weather tea times. I cannot imagine whipping up one of these samples now, after all, there is sooo much first flush/new harvest tea to enjoy.
...Probably neh. But it's an idea for the scientists of the group

Enjoying some of Adagio's Yunnan Noir, which is growing on me. Nice drink for a surprisingly cool summer morning.

Awww, Sal, your photo is beary beary cute.
Well, I have been traveling, I took a road trip down to Central California to visit family. A quick 5 days, 2 spent driving - well, I don't drive, so two days spent driving my brother crazy (he was driving.) I am a nervous passenger.
I took tea with me. And tea stuff. Not much though, I restrained my compulsion to pack the whole set. My list:
nodate chawan (doubles as teacup)
tiny whisk
tiny chashaku
small strainer
small kyusu
matcha
oolong
Everything fit very compactly into a small box, except the kyusu, which was a pain. I probably wouldn't try taking one of those again.
But I had matcha on the patio each morning, so it was worth it. Yum.

Re: QotD, I don't like Lapsang, can't get past the smokiness, it would be like eating a campfire.

Nice photo Geek, I have a blue Seigan Chawan on the way from Japan as we speak! I'm still trying to streamline my tea travel gear as well.

I have never had it YET. But I have enjoyed some other smoky teas so who knows?
I am such a foolish teanewbie mandude.
ALMOST done with my Nepal illam fikkal, having two cups right now. Decided sugar is a good addition but rather drink it untainted. Going to have a bowl of matcha afterwards to jump start studying for finals. I eat differential equations fo' breakfus doo!
