Thanks! I am really loving the pot. It is surely my most unique piece.

I just got back to my condo in Austin and there was a "Sorry We Missed You!" in my mail from USPS. A package has arrived from Japan! I will post about it tomorrow.

About that pot, how far down does the lid go into the pot itself? Or what's the height of that lid compared to the pot's body?

It goes about 2/3's down into the pot.

It definitely looks cool, but that seems to me like it would interfere, unless you are supposed to keep the lid off during brewing.

Brewing some more with it this morning, the top looks to go into the pot about half the way instead of 2/3's.
I am still trying to figure the best way to brew with it, and what it was made like this for. If anyone that has more experience or has every seen one of these, please chime in!
The lid doesn't really get in the way. The single hole is somewhat of a challenge with the balled Oolong, until it opens up.

This long leg style is for traditional high fired oolong/TGY. Since this kind of tea is rolled, the long leg act as a press, similar idea as a espresso press.

It's a bad idea to set resolutions about teaware and still visit this forum.

It's an exercise in futility. But hey, at least it's exercise! Heh.

Wow, beautiful Oolong pot!
Though I can't help but imagine, based on my own love and experience of tikuanyins, that the lid would be hard to put back in for subsequent infusions? Tikuanyin oolongs really open up and 'expand'. Then, if the lid doesn't go down all the way and 'seat', seems like pouring would be a little messy - tea out the spout and tea out the unseated lid opening? Unless of course one is thrifty with the amount of leaf used. But based on your pic, it looks like you used ample leaf, and I wonder how the lid seated when you re-inserted for subsequent infusions?
Cheers!

My "I have already all the houhins I need" resolution had to be postponed.
Two more are on their way from Japan.
