Are those little pigs on the lids of these teapots in the left row?
Hi Littlepig2. These are water buffalos on the lids. To show that its hard work to practice good tea making, but the rewards are plentiful. :D

I bought this beautiful chawan from Rikyu awhile ago, and have not used it yet. It is begging for attention and I plan to break it in later today and post on Seeker's Today's Matcha thread.

Thanks for reply TIM. Water Buffalo are good--they are just not little pigs :)

I had a kiln opening today and pulled a couple of my hedge apple tea bowls out. Here is one. It is porcelain and clear glazed inside. I find I am always amazed at the whiteness of it

Wow LP, stunning contrast outer to inner - the stark, glistening white and the crawling, hyper-textural.
Wonder what matcha would add to the equation?
Care to show us?
(shameless, I know)

I am so loving it!!! I really have a thing for angles, and this set has them!
Also love black and white, so what is not to love???

A whole set???????? I would faint! She's got a gold mine there to be sure.
By set, do you mean set of cups and saucers or place settings, too? Either way she can add me to her will.

I'd love to have a second as a back up, but it took me over a year to find this one.

Yep, and get this: She uses them as the main dishes at her beach shack in Seaside. Ha! I have no idea where she found them, but she went to estate auctions at least twice a month when she lived here in the States, and where she is now (France,) she goes to these "fairs" which sound a little bit like the same thing. She has a little resale shop in Brantome (except french spelling with the special characters  ) called The Bohemians.

She also co-owns a shop in Berkeley called Mignonne, which is home decor and antique and repurposed housewares with a French flair. About twice a year they have put out a huge lot of teacups and saucers, culled from various auctions and rummage sales. Fantastic!

I'll bet there are little shops like that who would be happy to keep an eye out for you at auction and sales for your extra-special pieces.

I know, I just feed the addiction.

Vic - :D WOW.
That is just a stunning cup & saucer. Geeeezzzzz. Whew.
I hope you find more to expand your "set" very soon.
Seems like that would make you happy (at least for a time  ).

(we are such enablers of one another, aren't we  )
