Teaware???
Found this set at a local thrift shop. One of the cups has a "Made in Thailand" sticker on it. The pot's huge (750 cc's) but has a miniscule opening in the top. Can't see brewing easily in this one - I guess it's mainly for display. The cups, on the other hand, will be quite useful!

+1, I wonder in practicality if the set was created for Western markets and intended for serving, not brewing. You put tea leaves in there to brew, you might never get them all out. Is there a built in screen?AdamMY wrote:... nice set Cicada.
I am "knocking them off" as I speak ... this is harder than I expected.AdamMY wrote:The teaware bug nibblith, but I must hold out for my Eiichi's.... oh I do hope they come out soon!

Chip -
I thought it might be for serving, since it has no screen. The top hole is big enough to accommodate a spout or a funnel or (gasp
) a spigot from an urn. But for $5 USD for the set, I can live with it as a display piece!

The cups look very ... conducive to drinking tea. I would keep 1 or 2 out and use them.Cicada Lady wrote:Chip -

Excellent deal!

IPT,IPT wrote:I just received this is a new celadon cup from Wu Yuanzhong. It's awesome! It feels so good in the hand and has a bit of weight to it. The glaze is full of crackles which will stain quickly, I hope.
Its size is: 4cm high x 6cm wide
Do you see much work like this in China? Is there much of an artistic movement away from traditional porcelains?

I'm starting to see more and more of this type of tea ware, but it's still really rare and most I've seen comes from Taiwan. His pieces, in particular, I find to be really nice.

Any more examples of his work you can post?IPT wrote:I'm starting to see more and more of this type of tea ware, but it's still really rare and most I've seen comes from Taiwan. His pieces, in particular, I find to be really nice.
