I was at World Market today browsing. They always have some OK "Japanese" plates and dishes, and some chopsticks around. Today they had some immitation Raku ware.
This stuff is all made in China, but it is food safe (ok Ed, maybe I should test for lead), and really cheap. Most of the Raku stuff was not to my liking, but this small Chawan caught my eye.
For $3.99 I didn't feel bad taking a chance on it.

Here's Bhale's picture small enough where we can actually see it.

Looks very nice Toma.
How big is the green one? It looks a lot smaller(better) than most tetsubins.

That's about the size of my new one...which I think is also a Rikyu (though not near as pretty...mine's just a standard black hobnail).
I've gotten a lot of new teaware over the past few months...maybe I should throw up a few pictures.

Toma- I really like the infuser mug...any idea where the gift giver got it?

I have seen that cup or extremely similar at World Market.
Similar things can be had (at a slightly higher price) from redblossomtea.com.

I'm fairly new at this, so for now I'm into glass.
I like a big cup of oolong, the color is so languid.
I searched high and low for a wooden saucer, finally found one:

The ware and the current stash
PS Not sure why I have so much Rishi Stuff other than that I had Whole Foods Gift Certificates! I am def. planning on ordering some Adagio blacks when I get low on black tea, to support the Board Owners of course

And I highly recommend the UtiliTEA, my search for the perfect electric kettle being, incidentally, what led me to this board in the first place!
