This is from the ItoEn shop in Manhattan. It's Tokoname ware, by an up and coming potter, Chizuko Uchida.
Wow - those are just gorgeous. I love the hidasuki markings on your kyusu.

A lot of people have done it this way. However, it's hard to find non-scented / flavored denture cleaner. I don't like doing it unless the pot is *really* dirty, or has potentially harmful stuff on it (like the stuff people use to make pots look aged).

Guang @ Hou De posted an interesting article recently about a new product he's using for cleaning pots... tea tree seeds:

Seems like a good solution to me (well as long as they don't have a strong smell like tea tree oil).

Er, chamekke is a she, actually. Some of the guys even call me a "matcha babe"

If anyone is smitten by those yunomi, just PM me and I can provide info on how to contact the potter; he's got lots of similar ones. I don't know if he ships them, mind you ... if you want to buy his work, it may require coming to British Columbia (Vancouver Island) in person. (Incidentally, the yunomi were priced at $10 per piece.)
Is this an invite??? The cups are really nice and the price is quite reasonable. Sal also calls himself TeaBabe sometimes BTW.

The contrasting color is made by wrapping straw around the pot before firing. This technique is more commonly seen on Bizen ware.

My tea tray is complete. That doesn't mean I will stop buying teaware. Having a good variety is essential, and I would like some more seasonal variations.
Nice set up Witches Brew! The kyusu has really nice shape and the handle looks like it calls your hand to hold it.
blah blah blah SENCHA blah blah blah!!!

Some TeaChat members have contacted me to ask how they might be able to buy similar yunomi to the three I bought on the weekend (see previous page on this thread).

I tried contacting the potter's family explaining who I was (mentioning a couple of mutual acquaintances so that they'd know I was reputable), and asked if I could provide my friends on TeaChat with their contact details. I have left a phone message and I have sent an e-mail, just to cover all bases. So far there has been no reply to either.

Then I contacted one of those acquaintances to ask whether I should persist. Long story short - they do not seem to be terribly motivated to sell his wares at the moment. (I'm still not sure why/how they came to include some of his work in the show I attended.) They seem to want their privacy, so I think that for now I should respect that.

If they eventually reply to me with a thumbs-up, I will happily pass along the information... but please don't hold your breath on this one.

Sorry to have tantalized everyone with the photos :( At least, if I ever tire of these yunomi, I know they'll probably be welcomed on TeaSwap!

That is beautiful, olivierco. Is it lacquered bamboo, with a handpainted design?

Exactly lacquered at wood.
The seller claims it is 40 years old. I don't know whether it is true, but the fact is the chashaku is as new and at only 60$ (shipping costs included) I couldn't resist

Yes, and when the chashaku comes with its own shifuku (silk pouch), or bamboo case, or SIGNED bamboo case... even more expensive!
