Oh, yeah perfect description! And Intuit's more "formal" teaset and the story behind why that particular set is so cherished, what a dear thing to share!
Isn't it nice how tea and teaware can transport us?

some of my favorite pieces here. i'm fortunate to own these, even if briefly
this is a shino tokkuri by robert fornell that i'm currently using as a "sharing pitcher". the glaze on this piece is probably the thickest glaze i've ever seen (hard to see in photos)...even thicker than the ultra thick white-frosting/glaze on my seigan hagi guinomi! awesome black, orange, brown, and blue wrapped in flame! a joy to hold with it's orange hills and black valleys
what's in the background? one of the original 10,000th try by jay strommen. the edison of ceramics, inspired.

Incredibly tactile pieces! The last is probably one of the most visually complex I have seen. The blue opalescent fragment by strommen is very beautiful - well worth keeping for contemplation.

Hey Intuit and Dreamer, I couldn't agree more, which is the main reason this cup was chosen. I should be a mermaid, that's how much I adore the ocean and the beach. My dream job would be to walk the beach and shell, taking a dip every now and then while enjoying the beach and the sun.

I'm glad you like it, it's probably my current fave. However, more cups are on their way, including a Hagi....
Thanks for sharing your story Intuit.

This is from Yunnan sourcing, DHP clay from fudong.
I use it for lightly oxidized ball shaped oolong, like jade Tie Guan Yin and Taiwanese light fermentation oolong, like Highmountain oolongs.
Is it a new one or the one from your avatar?
What size is it?

It is from my avatar, but I never really took such good photos of it, showing all the details.

Oni, what is DHP clay? This is a classic shape for Wuyi teas, not green oolongs. But, whatever.
