I had a chance to sample some superior TKY this week. On recommendation, I really packed the gaiwan. Besides the tea being quite wonderful, I loved seeing the tea leaves spilling out of the top of the bowl between steeps.

I'm still kicking around the idea of making some of my images available as prints. As my own harshest critic, it's difficult to make the leap, as I find flaws in everything I am producing, even when I am happy with it for posting online.

In my home office, there is a wall where I have stuck several dozen small printed images from my own files, and many of them seem to lack a certain "pop." I've spent hundreds of hours in the past several years just studying other peoples' work, trying to understand what makes an image work, and know that my own style continues to morph and develop. Admittedly though, it's difficult to avoid processing trends, like the split-tones of which I'm so fond.

The primary result of study that I notice, is that I become more consistent and proficient (I hope.) It takes a far smaller pool of images to find one that pleases me. Someday, I might even make one that says to me "I NEED to be printed." In the meantime, I will be satisfied with continuing to learn and do, and printing images that simply say "I want to be printed."

I'm loving all of them Geek Girl, esp. the poppets. You create your own little reality with those. As a fellow photographer who has done some commercial work, I think you handled the lighting quite well. The darkness of the early green tea session seemed to fit the product.

Have been working on revisions to my business website for the last week. It's hogging my free time. I'm finally getting around to replacing all the accent images on the site. Since it went up, I've not changed images. 6 years people! So all the pictures on the site are kind of crappy, or else acquired through free-share sites, (IOW, not mine.)

I still have a couple of pages that need re-shoots, and I need to do some technique images for one of the pages... so yeah. What was I here for? Oh yes... tea. Well, not so much.

This weekend, just to get out a little, I rented a super-wide zoom. (10-22mm) I've lusted after this lens for awhile, so I'm glad I rented it, because it turns out I don't really like super-wide that much, and mostly used it zoomed in to 22mm, and found it still a wee bit much.

I liked this one though:

Nice shot! Love daisies, they always look so pristine. Not to mention their relative flatness of surface makes them so much easier to shoot, then say daffodils, another favorite of mine.

Lovely daisies, but I think it would benefit from a bit of a crop. I find the right side a tad distracting. My 2¢. Oh, and don't fret - I haven't really updated my site in nearly 8 years!

yeah, I cropped and uncropped multiple times. It probably is technically better without the edge, but I like it, so I left it. "Artistic license."
